I love how you are referring to Iraq in the past tense. Did the war end yesterday? Just because Georgey landed on an aircraft carrier and said Victory does not mean that the war is over. It's still raging and as we see in the news, it's bloodier than ever. You say we fought Vietnam on a political agenda? Does that mean we are fighting Iraq on a military agenda? Are you kidding me? This war was started for purely political reasons, just like Vietnam. War is politics. You can't lose a war because you fight it on a political agenda. Wars start and are fought because of political agendas. The reason Baghdad fell in a short time is because Iraq is a desert country with an inferior military not to mention that the United States military is so far beyond any other military we have fought in many many years. In the desert, with our industrial might we rolled right into Baghdad. Vietnam is a completely different country. Now you can argue that technologically the U.S. was still far superior in the Vietnam War and you're probably right, but the playing field changes everything. The U.S. went into Vietnam with plenty of might, just like Iraq, however, the situation changes everything and history shows that our military and strategies of fighting were at a severe disadvantage when matched up with the Vietnamese. But it don't take much to get me by So just booze me up and get me high Ween

After the success an invasion if North Vietnam was called for. The North was supporting and aiding the Viet Cong. A communist group fighting for controll of the South. Many questions came up such as "what about China?" Well china was supporting North Vietnam. China has proven (Koera) that they will support thier customers. This plan was dismissed becasue too many potential internationl problems. The military knew right then and there that the war in Vietnam was lost. the guy with the rifle on the ground knew what was need to win. The politicians, the press and many college kid had no understanding of the comitment needed to win that war. A war that we could have won. It was proven in 1968 during the Tet offencive. We were pushed back in the initial phases of the battle. In the end we took lost ground back and then some. The senior decision making generals today fought in Vietnam and know the mistakes made there. I know they have learned from those mistakes and are now winning in Iraq. How are winning? Simply after 4 elections and over 60% turnout under death threats, we build homes, hospitals, schools, and are working hard to provide a better life for the people of Iraq. This is all never EVER shown on the news. The MSM choose not to show how we are winning in Iraq and have chosen instead to try and paint a picture of defeate and death.
