america loves american dead
i have just watched a documentary by john pilger the journalist explaining the level of violent interjection by america on south america it is blatantly apparent that your neo-cons want total domination of the resources and people in the whole of the americas irrespective of democracy cost in peoples lives justice whatever the problem you americans have is that they love american deaths as much as the death of so called enimys if you look at the civilian casualties from your vietnam debarcle for instance you will find that at least 80% of the dead were either black or "slow readers" the undesirable members of the poor white trash as you seem to call them the dicotmy of rich and poor in your country is a disgrace and it is infecting the world. the neo-cons do not mind your soldiers perishing abroad as long as the resources are retained that is one of the reasons why mexicans who sign up get citizenship after 3 years or so the will hopefully die in the field you people are sleepwalking intop a new type of slavery not based solely on colour for a change its no good voting out bush they are all the same all skull and bones rich elite to maintain the status quo. so what the hell do we, you do

Cannon fodder isn't how the modern military works anymore. Soldiers have to be relatively smart and well trained now. That's why the death toll in Iraq is only 3000 compared to 50,000 for Viet Nam for the same length of time.

A signifigant number of those sent to Veitnam were draftees too. And even then, our causilty rates were miniscule compared to the enemy. During the time we lost 50,000 -- they lost close to a million -- if memory serves me right.

Americans haven't had to face an enemy on anything resembling even terms since we fought the Germans in WWII. And even then, we enjoyed almost total air superiority -- as Hitler had committed nearly all his air power to the Russian front.

The difference in American casualty rates are very most likely more attributable to the advance in technology especially in terms of armor. That I know to be true; however, I am highly hesitant to make an assertion that Iraq is as bad (in terms of violent opposition to the US) or not as bad as it was in Vietnam, as I have not been in either war to know that!

However, the technology on the other side primarily remains the same.
1 million Iraqi deaths?

Not to mention the docs are better at sewing them up these days.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.
