This story shocks me and at the same time I'm not really surprised. I don't doubt the Army is desperate. I have to agree with tadpole in that I don't see anything wrong with getting a high school kid off drugs if he wants to join the Army and serve his country. I don't really see anything wrong with that. If he enters the Army and then starts his habit again, then he will most likely be caught at some point and discharged, like tadpole said. Even then though, the forging of a high school diploma is pretty terrible...

Thank you for understanding the point I was trying to make. I do agree that out right forgery is unacceptable, but bringing someone up to standards I think should be encouraged. What if the kid was fat, should the recruiter not help him lose weight to get within standards?

Not at all. What I am saying is that when you have the leader of our country displaying complete immorality what do you expect to happen within our military? The Iraq prison scandal, the questionable recruiting methods... it all blooms from the same unjustified soil. The truth is lost and whatever unjust actions will be fixed and justified later down the road.

I tend to disagree in so much as I do not belive the imorral acts of a few soldiers is related to the presidency. Nor do I believe that they relate to the military completely. I think these are poor moral judgement that were made by people with poor values, and that it has stained the image of the entire U.S. Armed forces.

I also think that the officers are just as much to blame as the enlisted men who carried out those heinous actions. And I think the officers should be given a greater punishment than the enlisted.
