I'm looking at it from the standpoint that heterosexuality is what brings humans intot the world, and most heterosexuals have an idea of what they would prefer in a their offspring. Usually a person such as themselves.

Many parents with kids that have random birth defects still love their kids, but I'm sure no one thinks "boy I hope my kid is missing an arm when he is born".

And I'm not saying each individual couple has to reproduce to get married or even physically have the capability to do so, but being the same gender goes beyond that. It's a union that is f'd up not ONLY from the reproductive standpoint, but from fundamental life on this planet standpoint. What might be socially accepted is still biologically null and void and when you create standards for a society, you need to have a more concrete foundation than "because it doesn't hurt anybody".

As far as your gaydar, maybe you just need to eat a steak or two and it'll fix itself right up.
No no, no assumptions, remember? iI am not a vegetarian at all. Just don't eat beef. I agreed with you that I wouldn't be hoping for a baby with a huge health problem (ie: dwarfism, missing a limb, etc) but my baby ending up as a homosexual is not a health problem. So, they don't go together.

The problem is that your comparisons (beastility and pedophilia) DO harm people. Homosexuality does not. Your comparisons just don't go together, that's my point.

I'll pass on the steak. But my "gaydar" is just fine...just because I know men that would seem gay but aren't doesn't mean I can't figure out when someone is obviously a homosexual. Just saying that your "gaydar" can trick ya.

Sounds like my sister. I call it fakeaterian.
I'd still love my son if he were gay. But I'm glad he's right handed and his hair swirls in the "right" direction. LOL.

Both are debatable. Rape harms people, just being zoosexual or pedosexual doesn't necessarily. If you have to be told that you are being hurt, are you really being hurt? Or is the suggerstion of harm driving a lot of the harm. The Catholic church for example had a long history or pedosexuality, yet it took forever and a day for people to actually bring all that "harm" to the forefront? I'm not so sure.
Is pedophilia a mental disorder

And some people have a better gaydar than others. But since I ain't screwing any men at all, and I would screw a gay woman, it really isn't any of my concern if my gaydar is accurate or not. As long as my genderdar is working, I'm okay.

*shrugs* I don't label my eating habits...I eat chicken and some pork just because I like them and find beef disgusting. I am left handed though...and red headed. But so is my mom so I am sure she is fine with it.

Personally, I don't care if pedophilia is marked as a metal disorder or what anyone says about it that isn't negative. I find it disgusting and wrong. If someone finds themselves attracted to prepubescent children and doesn't act on it, fine. I wouldn't want that person with my kid though. But especially one that acts on it...no child should have to go through that. I'm not worried about the pedo, I am worried about the children.

Oh oh. A left handed red head....To avoid offending you I'll just drop that..Red head women are "special".

But I'm discussing both as an abstract. And I do think it should remain a mental illness. Because it is. Just because a man can hold a job and interact socially doesn't mean all is well. That's just a low threshold for diagnosis.

I personally agree with you about pedo being disgusting. But then again, I find homosexuality a bit "off" too and you don't.

"My" child shouldn't have to go through that, but many children do. No child should be exposed to a lot of things, incest, abuse, prostitution, being made an orphan, but many do. If you are gonna come with all kindsa homemade excuses for homosexuality to be an evolved human trait, the other sexual deviant instincts might be something people are just "born with" too. Maybe a mathematical model is on order to "prove" it. There might have been a reason for it at some time in human history. Society change creating a situation where we start feeling the need to confine and execute people for performing the way they have evolved sounds a bit like eugenics. The species doesn't need them any more so lets get rid of them.
It would be like banning meat and deciding that any person who still has the instinct to consume it is all of a sudden disordered.
This is my new signature.

Ok, what do you call someone who practices the religion of Wicca - a "Wicc?"

Brittany implied that Wiccan is the name of the religion itself - not a person who practices it. Thank you for clearing that up for us.

Um, what are you talking about? No, I didn't. All I said was that I don't think people become a religion, they just are it. I also stated that I had studied Wicca which strongly implied that I know the name of the religion...
