2) Yes. The enemy does have rights.
Insisting that they don't is just another sign of how you refuse to acknowledge the rules.

Again, I have no problem with killing the enemy on the battle field. You keep changing this conversation to other areas when you cannot defend the ground you are on.

Just out of curiousity alias, has it ever occurred to you that you should TRY TO CHANGE the existing rules, instead of just insist that you don't have to follow them?

Terrorists have rights? Not in my world. Maybe in yours. They fight for no nation, the don't wear the uniform of a nation, and they murder civilians. The only right they have is the right to receive a bullet right between the eyes.

Does your world have a SCOTUS which EXPLICITLY ruled on terrorist rights?
Or do you just not care about rules in "your world"?
What color is the sky in "your world"?

I don't know why you keep denying the obvious.
You may not like it, but the LAW DISAGREES with a lot of the crap you would blindly do.

Where in the Geneva Convention does it say our signature becomes null and void if they don't sign it?

You keep trying to shine the spotlight on the other guy to excuse what actions you want to commit.

Iraq is a nasty place right now and I don't blame these guys, perhaps the element of fear combined with a sense of injustice is enough to drive these soldiers to desertion. I can see that but that's not what soldiers do.
BULLSHIT this is very telling!

They may not have a uniform, but they are still human. And incidentally, it was on this premise that the Geneva Conventions were reconvened after the Second World War because of the horror they saw being inflicted onto the civilian population. What we see in the case of this administration is that they like to bend the rules for their benifit. When people complain about torture, and holding people in overseas bases, the Bush administration responds claiming they don't answer to a traditional military hierarchy and therefore the Geneva Conventions don't apply to them. So then it would be logical to try them as traditional criminals in a civilian trial, but I guess they're "not civilian enough" to recieve the benifits of habeas corpus or civilian trials, instead they should be denied evidence and lawyers and be placed in a military tribunal.

There's this double standard that is too evident, and I'm afraid too angering to Iraqis. We wanted to bring our traditional foundations of democracy and liberty to the Iraqis, and thus usher in a completely new lifestyle from the Saddam Hussein regime; yet we turn around and follow in Saddam's policy's footsteps. Saddam denied Iraqis traditional civilian tribunals and instead military-like tribunals so that his power could be further consolidated. Likewise, he practiced torture. Now we see that under US occupation, we are using the same torture chambers, and unfortunately retaining their sense of infamy. For now, there is more torture going on in Iraq than there had been under Saddam, the quality of life is worse, and there are way more people getting killed than before.

Bush and Co. get ready!

The wordings of the current oath of enlistment and oath for commissioned officers are as follows:

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

"I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God." (DA Form 71, 1 August 1959, for officers.)

Bush and co. you have become the enemy, DOMESTIC!
