Defending the Truth

This brings up an interesting point about torture. Many people oppose torture because it is terrible, but it is true that sometimes it might be necessary to save lives. Most people would sacrifice a life if it meant saving many lives. For example the classic hypothetical situation where a train is approaching an open bridge but there is a child who is playing on the gears of the bridge. If you close the bridge the child dies. If you don't close the bridge hundreds of people die. I think most people, including myself would close the bridge. But with torture, it is not even sacrificing a life to save others, it is hurting someone to save others. I think the problem with our current torture practice is there is no accountability. I read one proposal that would allow the US government to torture suspects in the war on terrorism with the use of a torture warrant signed by the president, Supreme Court Chief Justice, or the Secretary of Defense. This would allow the government to use torture when necessary and prevent those in charge from blaming the soldiers if it is found out. Also, since there would be a legal method to torture, illegal torture by rogue soldiers or officials would be even more scandalous and there would be no excuse for it. I think if I heard of torture but knew that it was authorized by the president because he personally believed it was necessary I would be more willing to accept it.

There are interesting questions about the video, but i can't help wonder...
If the US was behind this why would they be so sloppy about it?

I have to agree that sleep deprivation, loud noises, etc... do not in any way compare to gouging a persons eyes out and killing them.

Okay, I'll try again.........Who killed Nick Berg?

Because the people who did it are criminals.....and criminals leave clues.

Who was in charge of Abu Ghraib?

General Sanchez?

The Security Contractors?

It is possible that Pentagon Contracted Mercenaries were used for an operation like this rather than US military personell......

Why?

Because Mercs are not subject to any codes of military conduct or the geneva conventions......technically.....they are outside the law....therefore they can torture and mutilate people and it is perfectly "legal."

However we have seen that discipline and codes of conduct were already so degenerated inside Abu Ghraib.....that it may have very well been US Seveice personell under the direction of degenerated leadership.

Ultimately.....General Sanchez....Donald Rumsfeld....and President Bush are/were responsible for what goes on in Abu Ghraib and in Iraq in general at the time of Nick Berg's death....

So ultimately.....these men are responsible.

They should be investigated.

You look for ......illogical.......information in the reports.

Such as......

Orange Prison suit.....

Reports to Michael Berg that Nick had been arrested and was held by US personell.....

Conflicting reports by the Pentagon....saying that he was being held by the Iraqis.....

Nick was seen in a plastic chair....the same type of chairused in Abu Ghraib.....

The walls are identical to the walls of Abu Ghraib......

The floors are identical to the floors of Abu Ghraib....

The "Jihadists" skin is too white looking......

The timing of the event coincided with a torture scandal in Abu Ghraib that the Pentagon and the Bush admin wanted off of the headlines.....

A guy in what looks like a US Army cap peers into the video in the lower right hand corner during the decapitation.... (very damning evidence)

Etc etc etc.....

What we see is illogical information.

For instance....if these are Jihadists....why is one of them a white guy in a grey cap?

You see....that should not be there....it is illogical that a white guy in a US Army cap peers into the video..

A cursory look at the thing indicates that it is not a prison jumpsuit, although it is orange.

That's an awefully shiny looking prison uniform, isn't it? Let's compare with an American prison jumpsuit...

Larger shots of Nick Berg also indicate that his outfit is a shirt and pants, not a jumpsuit.

How would you know what prison suits, if any, prisoners at Abu Graib are wearing? The only pictures that have been in the news have portrayed them naked and being tortured.

Berg was arrested by US personnel in Mosul on March 24th by Iraqi police. He was transferred to US custody and then released in April. Mosul is nowhere near Abu Graihb, firstly, and secondly, he was clearly released, and in contact with his family from a Mosul hotel up until April 9th, and contact with the US military until April 10th, at which point, he disappeared/

He was held by the Iraqi police and transferred to American custody before being released and then disappearing. I haven't seen anything that contradicts that, but if you'd like to furish some actual evidence, feel free.

Firstly, how do you know what kind of chairs they use in Abu Graihb, and secondly, a shitload of plastic chairs look exactly the same.

Because Abu Graihb is the only place in Iraq with beige walls. Right.

This may suprise you, but most Arabs aren't that dark skinned.

Nick Berg's death was announce a year before the torture scandal in Abu Graihb was discovered.

How so? The US army isn't the only military or even group to wear camoflage hats. Hell, I own one, and I'm not even in the army.
