So lets see, the IDF used cluster bombs, which many people dislike because of the increased likelihood of noncombatant casualties, and phosophorous rounds fired from artillery, which some claim would violate internationally law.

Hmmmm. The last time I checked, the use of cluster bombs was not illegal, only highly suspect, and a wish, mind you a wish that they would not be used. As far as phosphorous, does anybody know what type of targets they were fired upon??? Once again, they are allowed to be used against equipment, which would include, vehicles, rocket launchers, and dwellings. Do we know for a fact that IDF fired these on troops in the open, or were they fired at one of the above forementioned targets????? Their use alone does not prove a violation. Last time I checked, according to the UN, there were not suppose to be weapons in the Gaza Strip area, is that not the reason for the observers, who were powerless to do anything in the first place???

I am not justifying a wrong with another wrong, but rather questioning if a wrong was committed. Again, use does not immediately mean wrong.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

I don't think anyone was saying that the actual use of those rounds were illegal. But HOW they were using them WERE illegal under the Geneva conventions.

"What we did was insane and monstrous, we covered entire towns in cluster bombs", the head of an IDF rocket unit in Lebanon said.

Just because phosphorus is not "technically illegal" but regarded as illegal under the ban against chemical weapons, doesn't mean its anymore morally correct than if it were technically illegal. Its still excessive force on citizen population centers. I find it VERY interesting that we have been drivin to the point of defending TERRORISM, because terrorism is the dealing of terror to an innocent group for reasons of winning the broader conflict in the culprit's mind. This is exactly what terrorism is! So the cowards sometimes hide in those locations, so you go in there and take them out! You don't lay a blanket of chemical weapons or cluster bombs on the entire city to take out the morons firing the rockets on the corner of Ahab street and Mohammud street.
