Harry Truman decided to use the atom bomb because he was convinced it was the only way to defeat the Japanese, and it was a way to save more lives by avoiding the invasion of the main Japanese islands.

There is a HUDGE difference between that and what you want to do. There is no necessity for us to nuke a city of a Muslim state, and in fact doing so would only pit more people against us, including moderate Muslims and well the rest of the world. All you want to do that for is out of hatred and ignorance.

This is NOT WWII. Truman dropped the bomb because he was convinced it would save lives, and that's actually debatable and you have a case for arguing that about WWII even though I might disagree. But in this case, there is absolutely no necessity to drop a nuke on a Muslim city. ALL it will do is unite the entire Muslim community (moderates and all) against us. It will also cause us to lose any lick of support from ANY country in the international community including the United Kingdom. The only thing it would succeed in is the guarantee of the killing of hundreds of thousands of innocents, mostly moderates, and the possibility of killing a handful of radicals that might possibly aide the enemy.

There's a difference between total war and therefore a tactic as was Truman's decision, and total MADNESS that is your doctrine.

Summary of the eRumor:
A sequence of pictures of a truck running over the arm of a young boy. The text says he was a starving Iranian child who had stolen some bread from the marketplace and this was his punishment.

The Truth:
This eRumor has circulated as having happened in various Moslem countries, but came from an Iranian web site.

We checked with Iranian sources who said this was more likely a street performance than an act of Islamic punishment. The man in the picture is holding a microphone and as gruesome as the pictures appear, the boy is not harmed, but is part of the act. People gather around and pay money for the performance and the boy walks away. Our Iranian source also says that if this had actually be a public act of punishment, it would have been carried out by a uniformed officer.
