| Have you thanked a Veteran Today? Veterans Day is an opportunity to publicly commemorate the contributions of living veterans. I marched in the Parade with my Scouts today. I wore my ships ballcap. (USS Exultant MSO-441) We were walking down to the staging area to meet up with the rest of our Pack, as we walked past one of the bands setting up I was thanked by someone I didn't know. At first I wasn't sure why he thanked me, then a few minutes later I was thanked again. We found our pack and one of the other dad's had his ships ballcap on (USS Arleigh Burke DDG-51) We were chatting and trying to keep 30+ boys together waiting for the parade to start, when someone else came up and thanked us both. That's when we realized why, we were being thanked for being Veterans. I guess it could be expected that Veterans be thanked by other people (a lot of them maybe veterans themselves) in the staging area getting ready too march in the Veterans Day Parade. My story does not end here, I was thanked again at the restaurant where we went to lunch after the parade, and I was thanked again as I was shopping. The wreaths may be layed, the Parades may be over, the 21 Gun Salutes just empty casings, and the speeches just a memory but, It's not too late to thank a Veteran. thanks Tadpole, criticalprocess, AZSQUID, masshole, sgtdmski, dirtyboatguy, jaaaman, Foundit66.......and any other Veteran here on Defendingthetruth. I am off to the VFW I should be able to find a Vet or 2 to thank there..... | Great post onthefence! I would also like to thank all the veterans on this site. I wanted to go into Boston today for the parade, but I was stuck cutting down dead trees all day. God bless the troops and veterans!! | |

| Thanks to all you men and women who serve, or served, our country! Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong. ~Richard Armour There are many men of principle in both parties in America, but there is no party of principle. ~Alexis de Tocqueville | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Thank you all veterans of past and present. May your sacrifices not be forgotten on this day and every day. Our Task must be to free ourselves... by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures, the whole of nature, and its beauty.
