Defending the Truth

At last count, in 2006, it was estimated that they numbered around 2,000 - 3,000, and that doesn't even include, as I call them, "casual" racists, who never make their beliefs as big an issue, join hate groups, or have a political & social agenda, but simply express prejudiced viewpoints.

And this isn't an indictment of the military. If anything it's an indictment of recruiters, who are becoming more and more indiscriminant. Usually, people with identifying tattoos from any gang were automatically discharged, but now they have unrealistic quotas to fill. There has to be more regulation in military recruitment and less pressure on them to break the rules. Aside from that, we need to step up actions to curb not only membership of white supremacists in the armed forces, but expand the concept of benevolence by putting a stop to atrocities and crimes against Iraqis, which I have no doubt many of these people are doing.

If they even sneeze against an Iraqi they will wind up in prison. There is too much hostile media there, and indeed, media that manufactures stories practically made to order for our anti american media.

Dammit, my last post didn't go through. I don't have time to retype it, so I'll just say that there is a lot more to Iraq than meets the eye, as with any other war. I don't think Iraq is similar to Vietnam in terms of size, but it is certainly comparable in the number of atrocities. THese better known ones are simply the tip of the iceberg.

From 1959 to 1978 I was an Army brat, I play with childern of all skin colors, MY father had friends of all colors that would come to our house, and I never heard one racist remark.In June of 1978 I sign up for the US.ARMY and stay there until 1991 when i was disable.

Sure there are many EX_gang members in the military and they will alway be there.BUT there are more than just white racist, there black, there brown, and wow even yellow racist..but they learn to get along most of the time and will cover each others back.

These guys are not only risking their lifes for people that would kill them in a heart beat, but our troops have to leave their families and their homes, they get shot at on a daily basis, wounded and even killed, oh and while they are over there fighing, they families are back here, worried to death about their sons and husbands,these families are also worried about making ends meet due to the loss of income(the military don't pay alot)..that if the troop make it back unharmed...

Did I say everyone who joins the army is a racist? No. Do I think so? Absolutely not, so don't put words in my mouth.

So...you're pulling the "sacrifice and valor" card again? I'm fully aware of the sacrifice soldiers make, and regardless of the cause, people are people, and they deserve respect for what they've done (provided "what they've done" is within the rules of war, but in most cases that's a given). I don't need you preaching to me about it.
