Individual men and/or women have throughout our history have created inventions, ideas or provoked thought that have led to great changes. It was the individual that made things better for the group as a whole. Their motivation may have been to help the group, but ultimately it was the individual that thought of, devised and then created. It was but a single man that thought that by teaming together with other men I would be safer, hence the development of society. You place too much credit in the hands and minds of the so-called collective. The world's greatest discoveries and inventions have all been created by individuals, never by the collective.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

See there you go again. I am not claiming that there was no one behind the individual, but it was the individual who created, devised and then championed his idea. There were many people who supported Henry Ford and Bill Gates, but their support came only after Ford and Gates devised the idea, put together a business plan, and gathered the support. If not for the individual motivation of these men perhaps we would still be travelling in the horse and buggy and using an ababacus.

The people who worked with FOrd and Gates did so because they believed in the man and his ideas. But they were the individual's ideas not the groups. Don't confuse support with collectivism. No collective has ever devised an great idea, only individual men have done so.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

Ok, I need to ask that you stop attributing so much to Gates. He's a business man, not a brilliant inventor, he innovated nothing. He bought DOS from someone else, and sold it to IBM, great business move, but we certainly would not still be using an abacus, especially since there were desktop computers before Microsoft was even founded, perhaps you have heard of Apple? They invented the PC (Personal Computer). You should see 'Pirates of Silicone Valley', rent it this weekend, you'll enjoy it.
