Will the "War on Terror" Ever be Over?
I am appalled. Sad, disgusted, ashamed. I love my Country very much. But, what have we done to ourselves?
We went from being a free Country, to a Judeo-Christian one. While I was raised as a Quaker and tend to believe right along the lines, mostly, that is so wrong!! I am not saying it is wrong to be Christian.....well, here is the thing. Politics based on Religion......ANY Religion....well, it worked out SO well for the Muslims. That is why it is mentioned as something not to do in our FIRST AMENDMENT......
Torture is fine, as long as our " wonderful and intelligent" President says it is ok. Hmmm another little trait we have picked up.
You can put a "spin" on things, but hard to spin this.......this is a fact. Bush wants to send more of our people to die in Iraq, with all of the money that entails. He CUT help for the Elderly, Physically and Mentally Disabled, etc.......the least of us....on a crusade to bring home Bin Laden's head. Now, not taking care of our own, but giving more money to kill.....who does that sound like? The United States of America?
We, as a Nation, have given a Monkey an Ouzi. It is up to us to take it away. How many rights will be sacrificed to the "War on Terror"? OUR OWN PRESIDENT IS TAKING AWAY OUR RIGHTS WHILE OUR TROOPS FIGHT AND DIE TO PROTECT THOSE SAME RIGHTS.... Can someone explain this OXYMORON to me???
If we start acting like THEM, meaning Terrorists, then it doesn't really matter who "wins" in Iraq. Because, we are lost. (Entry and Opinion by JudeB-2/24/07...with Much Thanks and Respect to those who Fought and Died for my Right to do so.)

It doesn't seem like there's any end in sight if we keep going as we are. This is an intelligence war, not a military one.

What I hate almost as much is this security theater crap at airports, which does almost nothing to help prevent terrorists from boarding flights. Never mind the possibility of merely overpowering the flight crew, shampoo is obviously a massive threat!

Liquid explosives can be a danger, but they aren't going to have the viscosity of water or perfume.

I will agree that the airport situation is pretty ridiculous. I don't see that it protects us in any way; just window dressing.

I dunno about how ridiculous it is, but this is what happened just the week before last at the St. Louis International Airport...

They had to land a plane that had just taken off, because a guy had gotten a shotgun through security onto the plane, and into the luggage compartment (it was broken down). They're still investigating the incident, trying to figure out how he got past 15 check points to the plane with it. It was the flight attendant that spotted the rifle, and reported the darn thing.

The guy? He says he just carried it through each point, nobody said a thing about it when it passed through detection? Basically, he wanted to show that not only that it could be done, but that you could do it through the front door basically.

That's my point exactly. If you know how to take a gun apart and put it together, it's not that hard to do exactly what he did.

They can investigate all they want... It won't make us any safer.

It's about building a smarter mouse trap...Right now though, they're doing miserably doing such.

A few months ago, I got into a discussion on another site, about this. Someone was upset that the airport would no longer let children bring small toys (such as stuffed bears) on the planes anymore. I mean, she was really upset about it, going on about how a stuffed toy couldn't possibly pose a threat from a terrorist...

Took me 15 minutes research on-line, to find explosive ingredients and parts that could be made to use as stuffing, eyes, nose, and clothing on a stuffed bear then reassemble in a bathroom, and make plane go boom...That didn't even take that long for the two members in the site, that had done military time and one was a bombs expert?

Not only was I surprised at the ease of it. But so was she. Everyone agreed then and there we'd really never look at a stuffed bear from Build-A-Bear in quite the same way again.
