This is the sort of ridiculousness we have come to...
WoW Forums -> I played WoW, I became a terrorist (story!)

You know, I'd bet JUST BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED, some jackass will figure out a way to make an iPod into a detonating device of some kind, just to screw it up for everyone else.

"In an online game."
"What online game?"
"Umm ... World of Warcraft," I responded meekly.
"What kind of game is this?"
"It's a fantasy game ... it takes place online."
"Fantasy ... like it's got wizards and warlocks?"
"Well, it's got warlocks." (And they need to be nerfed.)

I think I should feel embarrassed that I know what he means but I don't....

As for the rest of the story, good grief.
I mean the police have to do their investigation, and people should be patient with that.
But what happened later?

Searching his computer like that for no good reason? (He wasn't under arrest, and somebody already told him he wasn't a "suspect", so what was the point?)
The: "I honestly don't know. But that doesn't matter. I get to decide what goes in this country. Do you have a problem with that?" comment???

Yeah this is an example of "security" out of control. It's ridiculous. Have we become such cowards that we cower in fear before the might of an MP3 player?

Very ridiculous. He drops an iPod in a toilet and gets probed so far up his ass with very personal questions...like, "OK, so ... if you and Cara were drunk together, and she turned to you and said, 'Tim, let's go--'" .

And then he gets patted down and searched, and his laptop searched for "hate propaganda", as if he killed someone for Christ's sakes. It's sick. What have we come to? Doesn't that violate some kind of right of his? I mean, I know it would if he were in the United States, but what kind of immunity applies to him in international territory?

Does it???

It does violate your rights in the U.S., but the U.S. has not yet flinched at violating rights so far in this administration...

But on the story, this IS security over-reaction.

Bronco Carson is a World of Warcraft player from Mexico who liked to taunt people in-game. Wondering why I'm using Past Tense? It's only because after harassing a woman in-game, the husband came up to his house with two other blokes and kicked the living you-know-what out of him, for "making it hard for her to get far in the game."

According to funtechtalk.com, Carson went to the Police on Saturday, claiming that the woman had already threatened Carson online and that he had already been constantly harassed in-game two weeks prior to the attack. He told the truth about how he kept harassing her and that he encouraged the woman to send her husband over if she had a problem with him: "if her husband was man enough to just come meet me to settle this," giving her his address too. God! What was this guy thinking? Was he drunk?

The quote doesn't seem to be posted correctly, but I'm not entitled to make any adjustments. Moreover, I'm sure everyone's getting the big picture here. Anyway, Carson didn't think for a second that the woman he harassed would actually send her husband over, not to mention friends. But she did. The outcome: two broken fingers and a fractured wrist ending with totaled computer and entertainment center.

That's pretty much every aspect taken care of: fingers broken, computer totaled... Spells "no more taunting other WoW gamers" to me.

Carson's final statement in regards to the unfortunate happenings... "I knew that I might be messed with in the game but I didn't really expect her husband to come looking for me. I couldn't have been more wrong."
