It's based off emotion and this fuzzy mirage they call egalitarianism. Everyone must be made equal to everyone else in every manner including wallets. I don't know why but they believe that shit.

BUT DONT FUCK UP OUR SYSTEM. IT WORKS AND IT WILL REMAIN HOW WE MADE IT TO BE.

In the case of health care your system is already "fucked up"!

But it cannot remain as it is without leaving more and more Americans without cover.

Sticking your head in the sand won't change that

What it doesn't need is a European style socialist makeover. THAT Americans have resoundingly opposed.
The reason your deduction is reasonable is because the rest of us are subsidising your insurance by paying higher prices for your employer's products and services.

It's a form of socialism but it's hidden

Or are we paying higher prices for the inflation of those goods and services? Sure, we pay for our goods and services, but who are we to force the owner not to use his/her profits the way they see fit?

You make it sound like those costs are gonna magically disappear. You got some kind of "federal government calculator" mentality or somethin'. The basic costs are still gonna be there, even if the company paying the bill changes. We currently pay 3% medicare tax for those above 65 + what most of pay for insurance + what some of our employers match. If we go to single payer system, we'll HAVE to either increase income tax, medicare tax, or create another tax and there's no guarantee that employers will increase pay to offset what they are no longer liable for, nor is there any guarantee that any prices will fall. The money has to come from somewhere.

What could magically disappear is the vast overhead of processing insurance claims which hits every single doctor's office and clinic in the country.

Not to mention the millions of paper pushers employed by insurance companies that do nothing to make anyone better but have to be paid by hard-pressed and often sick Americans

So there we have several millions more people that will be out of work, not only not paying taxes, but requiring more social safety net. I doubt there's that much savings. Unless the government starts forcefully regulating what doctors charge, kinda like they do in Canada, that's not gonna result in a net decrease in doctor's charges.

There's no net benefit to paying those millions of paper pushers, it's like paying people to dig holes then fill them in.

The good thing is that health care for all will create millions of new jobs so all those fax slaves and phone freaks can re-train as nurses, radiologists and other useful occupations. And make more money too.

Not really, just simplify the billing system. It can be standardized like UPC has done to retail. Same end result, no complete overhaul of healthcare.

In the mean time there's 2 to 3 years of unemployment and school training to pay for.

Another great business opportunity for thousands of entrepreneurs! America is good at that

This isn't going to happen overnight it will be a gradual transition that takes decades
