You can't handle a big dog, get a poodle.
I have a pit mix and he is not aggressive at all, my neighbor has a Spaniel that is a bitch on wheels.
All dogs are different even within breeds, so to make sweeping generalizations is just ignorant; but then we can all consider the source in your case.
