Right now, the only way to get this movie is the bootleg version. For so many years, Disney has not released the movie to the buying public. It is all politically-driven. The movie was shown in 1946, and there was a political backlash for the obvious reasons.
The movie's timeline if after the civil war. There is a mixture of white people living in expensive homes and the colored people living in sub-standard conditions.
Why is the NAACP so negative about the movie. Please comment if you wish. This is one of my favorite movies. If any of you have ever visited Disneyland and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, the Splash Mountain attraction was created from the movie.
