Ok... so here's my opinion (for what it's worth) on the subject of unmoderated boards.

1) I'm an adult
2) I'm capable of expressing my thoughts without censorship or editing
3) I welcome and enjoy a good banter
4) I don't mind defending myself against a troll or troll-like individual, since my viewpoints are held with conviction.
5) Any opinion worth having is worth defending
6) An opposing viewpoint is nothing to fear, but rather an opportunity to enlighten and educate.
7) C'mon... we're adults here.. it feels good to be the only armed person in a battle of wits!

I found it quite a learning experience to read the anti-gay side of the issues and the usually intelligent & well-documented answers from the pro-gay side.

1) I first started posting on Yahoo. At first it was fun, and I met some very nice people there. It has since degraded into a troll filled sewer. The fact that it is unmoderated has made it a waste of time and effort to discuss anything.

2) I refuse to post on that particular board or Yahoo ever again.

The majority of the Yahoo posters that came here have been civil (IMO), but then a couple have come to DTT that are very antagonistic. I applaud this site for moderating its users and taking appropriate measures to ensure civil debate.

I did send out some invites, hope the mods don't mind.
