I've figured out why there is so much discussion is on gay issues. It's because we have about an equal number of straight members as gay members. As such, the board is often used to discuss these different sexualities. Many straight people have the opinion that gays are seeking "special rights." Some of us are interesting in discussing different perspectives with gay people. On the flip side, gay members might learn where some of the resentment from straight people comes from.

As a straight person who doesn't have any resentment towards gays, I can only think that the "resentment" of straights who seek to deny equal rights to all (not "special" - "equal") comes from fear and narrow-mindedness...
