2007:A Female Oddessy
If your a woman in this country you have alot to be proud of. If your a woman in another country you have alot to be hopeful for. For the first time in our history we've followed the path of Argentina and the Phillippines. We actually have a legitimate shot at having the first female president in our nation's history. I think this will have a deeper impact on our society than the nation's first minority president. I mean at the end of the day Barack Obama and Bill Richardson are still male candidates. The meaning behind either of those two becoming president just doesn't turn the page completely in this country like a female president would. Think about this. Longer than slavery and the mistreatment of minorities theres been the mistreatment of women. Women of all colors, shapes, and sizes. Slavery's been abolished for almost 200 years now. Yet we still see the mistreament of women. Long after the Women's Movement we still see women objectified and displayed in this country like a stuffed deer's head mounted on Dick Cheney's wall. Truth is that minority men in this country have come along way, still needs work but they've come farther along than women of any color. I'm not the first one to tell you that a black man could be president of American Express(which is a fact because the president of American Express is indeed a brother.) before a white woman or black woman. Times are changing no doubt. We are now entering the age of the female. We now have females doing it large in the workforce. Female executives, female atheletes, head coaches, you name it. Also I feel that a female president would send a strong message to the good ol' boys of the Middle East. Places like Saudi Arabia and Iran. Women in those countries aren't even allowed to drive or work. I can't believe theres an actual Middle East version of Dr. Phil in Saudi Arabia that has the nerve to teach men how to use physical harm in order to keep their wives in line. Well a female president would certainly keep those close minded fanatics standing there with their sandals in their mouths.

I think we would come full circle with a woman president. Think about the "country club" conversation that would have to be toned down. Well in Hilary's case she would probably start off the gritty conversation men traditionally have in those types of settings. She seems like the toughest female politician I've seen in my 19 years on this earth. I know there are some women out there that are for Obama and that's fine. Remember this though, Obama won't bring impact to the world like Hilary Clinton would. Even if he's "black" he's still a man. It just wouldn't have the same effect that a woman would. Again, women have been suffering longer than any slave has in this country. Longer than any minority. Before slavery in this country women were being mistreated in Africa and all over the world. Minorities can no longer use the excuses of injustice and inequality. Look at all the black hip hop megastars in the videos. I mean these guys are drenching women with exspensive bottles of champaign, refering to them as "hoes, "sluts", and "bitches"(a favorite among the black community according to Isiah Thomas) I mean the amount of money black men are now making in this country is astounding.

It wasn't enough that Nancy Pelosi became the first female speaker of the house, or that Condi Rice was the first female Sec of State. We could come full circle with hilary as the first female president. The influence that would have on so many young girls in this country would be tremendous. It would show them that they don't have to be sex objects or submit to whatever a guy views them to be. It would show them that they can strive to be more in life. That the skies the limit.

I'm a minority that would support Hilary if I had to vote for someone. As an Independant and Libertarian I would find it much more symbolic to have a women president. I grew up with two sisters. My mom and my sisters are minority women. But their women first.
