Yes. That is the Arabian Gulf. The building in the background is a hotel shaped like a spinnaker sail.

It was a business trip, but I managed to get a little pleasure in too. I mostly hung around my hotel since there were plenty of pubs and resteraunts in the vicinity. Just being able to go to a pub and have a drink was a big thrill compared to my existance in Iraq.

I don't know about Pancho Villa's, but there is place called Irish Village that was recommended. I never made it there.

I was actually being shown about by a business client when that beach picture was taken.

Dubai is a great city to visit. Very clean, modern, and little crime. It is one Muslim country that has embraced the modern world and has the good business sense to appeal to it as well.

That's nice. I think I read a National Geographic article about Dubai and the hotel as well. Glad to see you are in a more peaceful setting compared to Iraq. I understand that even Dubai has an indoor ski slope, where the locals can ski on snow indoors.

Yes, there is an indoor ski slope. It's in the Mall of the Emirates and I saw it. I even have a picture of it.

That is very true. Visiting is OK, but living there is out of the question unless you're rich.

Wow!! Gary actually said something decent? I guess there's a first time for everything. PN, it's nice to see you're doing well. If my memory is correct, I think that hotel in the back groung is called the Birge Al Arab or something similar right? It's billed as the world's only 7 Star hotel.

The "Binge" al Arab would be more appropriate. I forgot the name of the hotel, but you are correct about the 7-star billing.
