You learn to switch from "grumping about getting screwed" to not getting screwed in the first place. The best way to do this is to trust very few people and have faith in even fewer.

A may be a passing "cool thing" to do for most of them, but I suspect the kid in the pic is too far gone for that.

And besides that, you have no way of knowing what, if any, crimes that person will commit. And I have to wonder, if folk that do commit crimes were not written off by mainstream society in the first place, maybe you would find far less criminals at all.
