| Trying to install XP with two new SATA drives I am trying to install XP. I have two brand new 500 GB SATA Seagate hard drives hooked up to my motherboard. I also want to run RAID. But, for some reason during the setup it keeps saying that it cannot detect any hard drives even I went into my BIOS and can see that the motherboard is detecting atleast of the hard drives. Do I need to install the drivers for my motherboard and/or the hard drives before running the xp setup?? Also which is better to run for RAID. Mirroring or striping and why?? -- San Fernando Valley's where it's at | |||||||||||||||||||||

| You can't compare mirroring and striping on terms of which is better to run for RAID, they are both completely different. Stripe if you want performance, mirror if you want a backup. Or, do what my roommate did...Get 4 hard drives, use 2 for striping and 2 for raid Check your mobo and make sure it supports 3gbps. If it doesn't, change the jumper to 1.5 so you don't fry the thing! | |

| I am always comfortable with getting a new comp that already has whatever DOS is installed. The latest I have XP - home edition. Since Windows Vista is available, I would not ever load that into my comp. I don't think it is necessary. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
