Let's Talk about the Weather!
Ice, snow, sleet...

And winds at 45 mph tonight.

Wind chills to 35 below zero!

About 20 schools in the area are all closing at 1 pm. But oh no, not where my kids are.

And yesterday we had temps in the mid 40's!!!

Think of me, Highway Man. And pray I don't smack up my car at 3:30 driving on icy roads. I am not the best of drivers as it is. Just lucky so far.

Well, we're a couple hours behind you, weatherwise, so hopefully I'll be happily in my home when the badness shows.

It is a typical winter day in North Alabama

IOW, altogether nasty. It is cool (not cold), windy and wet. 76% humidity with thunderstorms expected later today. Temps are supposed to drop 30 degrees between mid-afternoon and midnight.

(And I ask myself, as I do every January , why I never moved far, far away from here.)
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.
That's why I support the Pickens Plan. Check out the website at www.pickensplan.com. If you like what you see, please join me as a Pickens Plan supporter.

Here in Atlanta, a little wind, a little rain, temps 30-60. I like it. Wouldn't trade Ga weather for anything.

Hey Bon, if I lived up there, I would be among the last to drive in that.

However, now that you mentioned it, I've got something to say about my experience driving in the snow when I was in Denver in December 1992:

On US-285 heading back to the ranch after seeing my aunt who was in a hospice, I am driving about 35 miles under the speed limit as it was snowing. People told me not to brake the car as it would skid.

Anyway, I have about six cars behind me, and I didn't care what they think of this guy in the lead. Finally, I turn off US-285 and make a right onto Jefferson Cty. highway 73, where in another four miles I would finally arrive at the ranch. There were no cars behind me.

When I got inside the ranch house, I plopped down on the bed, and said a loud prayer of "Thanks, God, for getting me back here safely."

The next day, it was sunny and the road crews poured salt onto the roads. When I told my aunt about my driving and the people behind me, she said, "Oh, those crazy people."
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

Yeah, pump the brakes, but just barely enough to slow down.
