Those who are making the most money should not be rewarded by tax breaks for charitable contributions. It isn't really charity at all, it's financial good sense. And thank goodness for FDR and his new deal, or this country would have been suffering a lot more then it did for a lot longer then it did. And it is the governments job to protect the resources of it's country, and our county's greatest resource is it's citizens.

FDR did more to break down the family unit than any person in history. If that is a good thing then what do you call a bad thing?

I believe that a tax break for giving to charity is a good thing when income taxes are determined by a higher per cent for those with more income.

There are a number of charities that help the poor, the homeless, the indigent sick. Many of these charities would not ever get monies from any governmental agency, but thrive on the donations of those who have means to give.

And no one HAS to claim the donations they give on their income tax, if they do not want the break.

I'd love to see how many would do that.

I know of someone who always throws away the end of the year receipt from their local church and other para-church ministries, cos of their faith that they gave to The Lord. And that rendering to God the things that are God's doesn't mean getting a receipt from, to borrow from the Bible, "Caesar"...
