| I think it has something to do with the draft being in effect at that time. I'm sure if that were the case now, you would see many, many more protests and demonstrations. | |||||||||||||||||||||

The Iraq War, on the other hand, was the most protested war in documented history (not sure if that's per capita though!). Bush, the most protested man. The reaction to the Iraq War was pretty unprecedented in that there were countless people not only in the US but worldwide protesting it before it happened. That just never really happened before. Protests haven't gone down, it's just that media coverage of protests have gone down.

More mothers were stay at home mom's. Most games required at least two participants to play. A lot of those in the 60's & 70's generation decided they could not change the system so they joined into it instead, considering "If you can't beat'em join'em". They now live comfy lives and do not wish for those cozy lifestyles to be disturbed. Others relinquished themselves to drug overdoses and are no longer with us here. The now generation has been taught that the only thing that counts is making money and getting that job so they can be enslaved in the system of the corrupt corporate world. So they can purchase many of those wonderful corporate products that are made in China. Many schools have taught the children growing up that this whole structured of life is good. "The condo on the top floor is the one you want to own when you buy." Work, work, work who has time to protest?

| Well, here is another thing I did. I joined a union and plan to assist them with their website and their computers. I think it's time for more people to join unions. It is the working people who are the hope of mankind. It is the working people who will save mankind from destroying itself and it is the working people who build a more just society and will stop global warming and the destruction of the planet. The working people are the last and only hope for humanity. The power is with them. "An eye for an eye makes everybody blind." -Gandhi | |||||||||||||||||||||

"Until [the proles] become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious." -George Orwell, 1984 Unfortunately, I believe Orwell had most accurately depicted this dilemma that we face. The general mass of the working class is (like in Orwell's society) in a state of ignorance perpetuated by superficial distractions and fear, to a point where accepting the propaganda is the norm. If they only knew their power...there's a lot of reason for social revolution. Heck, I believe even if our founding and revolutionary forefathers had been alive (a group of bourgeoisie classical liberals) they would, even in a mere political revolution, pick up this country and turn it on its head. But, speaking primarily in political terms, this revolutionary classical liberal spirit that made America America is now just about gone. Now it seems that if anyone talks about anything regarding revolution or cutting back the expansive role of the military and government, or even taking the political power from the banks and the rich and putting back in the people's hands...well that's just unamerican! | When I think about the wefare state for the rich that we have here in the US, how the IMF and World Bank have used debt as a weapon to enslave and kill the poor in the Third World countries, when I think of how debt forgiveness for these same third world countries was a sham so that rich funds could buy up this third world debt at a fraction of the debt and then turn around and sue those countries for the original debt plus interest I am reminded of two quotes: "All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others." -George Orwell "I know, when I am gone, they will put a heap of garbage on my grave, but the wind of history will blow it away mercilessly." -Stalin "An eye for an eye makes everybody blind." -Gandhi
