The quote above is a bunch of BS. People who was protesting back
then was speaking out for the cowards who was affaid to stand up
for their rights. If anyone who should have been pissed of should have
been the demonstrators, and who they should have been pissed at?
The ones who was always raising hell, but when it came down to
the showdown most couldn't be found, and the positive thing was many
stood up for you cowards.

Domonstrations isn't a success when there's negatism in the
environment. Back then is was not just the War that was
protested. It was Civil Rights,Human Rights,the Rights to Vote,
etc,etc,etc.

I totally agree Rod, and the protestors of today is usually the same
ones who was back then. Also there is some younger generation of
people who believe in fighting against Rights violations, and today
we losing love ones in this stupid war.

Its a shame how narrow minded some people are when it comes
to others expressing themselves. Thereforth, with a quote like above
its shows me the differences between a mature mind, and a person
who don't understand life.

Protestors was dying back then for the same reasons our troops
is dying everyday in Iraq, and that's for no reason at all.
In closing you said demonstrators only pissed people off, and I am
saying the same about people they piss me off by sitting on their
asses allowing the government to screw us.

Well, back in "the day," I went to a few protest marches. One was to protest education funding being cut in Montana.

I also went to a few protest marches against Gulf War One.

Other than that, it's just not my "thing" anymore. I try to make the world a better place on more of a person-to-person basis.

Maybe you don't know or be around people who care,
but I am one that care about others standing up for
their rights, and back doing that I am also helping my-
self. I just left your so-called polling thread, and many
seem to find you amusing. As for myself I did not voted,
but I do not find you amusing at all, and as a matter of
fact I think you are one lonely person who seeks attention.

You can't speak for anyone concerning caring or not caring,
but for your ignorant a** information there is plenty people
who cares about their rights, and a perfect example is the
ones who is for or against affirmative action. Just because
you don't care don't mean others have to think like you.

You're a set-up (as far as I am concerned) for this forum.
This forum has a list of terms of services guidelines and
rules, but you seem to be allowed to post (talk) however
way you want, and piss people off at your ignorant s**t.

The strangest thing is the ones who do not find your posts
amusing or interested are the ones who usually get a 24hr
ban or blocked from coming on this forum. Because they're
the ones who gets in your a**.

In closing, How can you speak or think for anyone else, and

You are right many do care. We may not all stand in lines of protest. Some of us take action and fight the good fight in whatever capacity we can.

The reason many feel like Affirmative action has grown old because it has been abuse. Don't get me wrong because I believe we will have to have safegaurds in place for the abuses that some would subject others to in their bias and ignorant opinions.

There are those who use and abuse the systems that are placed such as affirmative action for purposes to suit themselves and their own greed.

In the case of my mining operation only the large already rich contracting firms wanted to use my status as a woman for there own greed. The truth is the mine would produce the only material of that kind around in that area. Why should I apply to a program for special treatment when it was not needed? Or I should say should not have been needed. If a company wanted to spend at least an extra six dollars a ton to have materials trucked from over sixty miles away would not that in itself say they were discriminating when they would not purchase my materials? Besides adding that much of cost per ton for materials would have been ridiculous for anyone contracting a project that needed those materials.

That did not stop them from destroying my business and my husbands business so he could support me and I could continue in the mine. Hatred and greed run deep enough in this country that truthfully at this point no one is safe regardless of your sex, religion, or nationality.

I am also deeply involved with a half of a dozen Community
groups & organizations who's mission is to fight against many
types of Rights violations. Its sad when so many set at home
depending on others to fight the battle, and yet they are the
ones who complain the most.

I attend every meeting that my City Council host, but again
at the City Council meetings is where Community concerns
should be addressed, and gues what Rod? nobody shows up
unless its something concerning their property.

This goes to show that people just don't give a damn IF it
do not concern them at the time, and that's the same old
bs when it comes to speaking out against things you don't
like.

Most marches in Washington is organized on the national
bases. Meaning that hundreds & hundreds of people was
organized to come together to let their voices be heard,
and if JUST a few people heard the call then the mission
was accomplished.

In closing; Here's a good example.....Let's say a crime in
a Black & White neighborhood school. The majority of the
wounded was White, and the criminal was a Black man.
I bet those who set at home complaining would get out
to protest.

So the point is there's nothing wrong with standing up
for whatever you believe in. Just don't be in denial about
your belief.

This is an excellent point that I think went unnoticed, or at least understated.

Silence is consent, boys and girls, and if you don't speak out and raise a little hell every now and then, we'll all just keep getting it in the booty from Uncle Sam. While in the meantime people will whine about the inherent injustices without doing anything to fight against them... And even worse than this, more and more people will be completely oblivious while they hand their (and everyone else's) rights away for a little short-lived, fuzzy, warm feeling from their government.

So, in my conclusion, I would like to say GET UP! SPEAK OUT! Shout it from a muthaf**kin rooftop if you have to! When your rights are being trampled, make sure everyone knows, and a few people with a little power and a little leverage will push back against the powers that be. Life may not be so bad now, but if we don't say something, it could get a lot worse. Then we'd all be stuck in an even more helpless state, wondering why no one did or said anything.

and in additional to what I stated you added more to
what I stated. I recall back in the 1970's when the conflict
at Kent State happened.

the time I was living in your home town (11th & High Street)
OSU area (High St Campus). We came together to
protest the Government's move at Kent State, and Columbus
was in a uproar for days. But guess what? The message from
all over was received by the Governement, and soon after that
the National Guards was withdrawen from Kent State.

That's the power from the people to the Government. One voice
isn't good enough to be heard at the Local,County,State, and
Federal levels. We are the Government body, and we elect our
Governemt officials to represent us.
