The Pope on other churches: You suck
Vatican: Other churches 'wounded' - CNN.com

And once again, we can clearly see how the Pope sets his institution backwards in time. Unfortunately, now it's not as harmless as an elective Latin mass nobod can understand. He's sanctioning religious intolerance this time. What a fine example he sets for the civilized world in a time of deep religious divisions and strife.

It's funny how God changes his mind on issues every time a new Pope is chosen.

Is this position actually so different than the stance of other sects, cults, denominations, and religions? Many religions proclaim 'my way or hell' - Catholicism used to lead the band in this chorus.
Perhaps he's just trying to reclaim the bigotry title from other the christian sects, although he still has a long way to go to get there.

Some of my faith does draw from Catholicism. Still beyond that...

I see it just as you say, Dem. Now the thing is I do believe that his profession is one that draws unyielding lines around people. Some get to be inside the lines and others outside. And the dividing of folk like that is just plain wrong.
But we ought not cast ominous glances at the pope or the RCC. Afterall, this is so not anything new. Or different than what other religions do either by profession or perhaps more insidious, by practice.

It all boils down to how you interpret Jesus saying "Upon this rock, I build my church.:

Unfortunately, this is far more serious than anyone on this thread seems to realize. This isn't just another blip on your computer screen or just another "happening" in our world that seems to have gone crazy. My belief is that this MAN, who somehow believes* that he is the Vicar of Christ (Christ on earth), just may be the man who is the forerunner of AntiChrist, just as John the Baptist announced Jesus as the Lamb of God, the One Who takes away the sin of the world.

Now would be an excellent time to study the history of the Roman Catholic Church. Our days are surely numbered.

*Or maybe he knows he's an ordinary, evil man who was just fortunate enough to have gained authority of the church.

Incidentally, for those who are interested, the church is a body of believers (people), not a building, nor is it an institution. In the bible it is called "The Bride of Christ" of which HE, Christ, not the pope, is the Head. One would think the Catholic Church thinks Christ is dead and powerless. Why does He need anyone, much less the pope, to rule His church? You either believe He's alive or you don't. If you believe He is alive, why are you following a mere man? One who would have you believe he is holy? He's not. He's just as ordinary as any other man, except he may be a trifle more evil. If not that, then terribly deceived.

Please do not judge the Pope. Now I do believe he is a spiritual facsist, but that said based on some of his political persuasions and moves since officiating the RCC. BUT to posture yourself or anyone to consider him to be a forerunner to an antichrist, well, that just plain smacks of fear gone rabid. Now for me, I don't even believe in the same endtimes theology that you evidently subscribe to, but all the same, if I did believe in the same worldview that you have formed with dispensational doctrines, I would imagine that the real spirit of antichrist is that spirit that relinquishes any other human being to be outside the saving power of the shed blood of Christ.

Christ reconciled the whole damned world back to God, so sez the Scriptures. So how is it that fundamental dispensationalists are always looking to peg a boogeyman title of antichrist on someone? Wasn't even that one that you suspect, reconciled to God in Christ Jesus? Is it not anti Christ or in opposition to him, to promote your own fears as discernment and name folk as monsters such as the notorious antichrist or his herald? Please rethink your posture, Sir.

Or if not, you can always get a job writing tracts for Chick Publications. Ewwww!
