Religion What is your take on religion? Do you base your thoughts in life according to your religion? Do you feel that religion should be kept out of Government and Politics?

YouTube - Rapture Ready: The Christians United for Israel Tour
Believing whatever a guy who gets paid 1.2 million a year to tell you to believe is a LOT easier and more comforting than thinking for yourself. I'm assuming.

Seeing the dynamic duo of Tom DeLay and Rick Santorum (both bounced out of Congress recently) there just strengthens my feelings about the separation of church and state.

Seeing Liebermann there, on the other hand, surprised the heck out of me. I mean, I know he's gone nutty in the last 7 years, but I didn't know he was THIS nutty.

And the looks on the faces of the interviewees as they recited stuff about armageddon and the anti-christ, it was if they were in a trance. No emotion behind the words, no passion. Just rote repetition of their programming. And these people VOTE. That was frightening.

Just before the program ends, there is a person wearing a shirt advertising a website called www.ThirdGender666.com and after reading the quote on the shirt, I had to have a look. The quote reads "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Morals are worse than animals. Proof: The National Zoo."

This is just a silly, meaningless (and grammatically incorrect) statement, designed to provoke people. Silly, since animals do not have morals at all. Morals are a human concept. Meaningless since there has been documented gay behavior in hundreds of animal species, including at the national zoo!

And on the site, there are some great nuggets, if you are willing to dig through all the typos, run-on sentences, and half-thoughts.

Here are a couple of my favorites, in their typo-ridden glory:
"The rise of the anti-Christ is the rise of the homosexuals."
"It started with Adam and Eve, not the Third Gender 666 the beast."
"AIDS has spread beyond the homosexual community to affect many innocent people who are suffering with this disease through no fault of their own."
"'Liberal' churches ...liken homosexuals as less moral than animals, because even animals know better than to degrade themselves through such unnatural and immoral conduct."

And these are the words of a church leader! Is it any wonder that the people in the video are so painfully misinformed? Talk about the blind leading the blind! Wow!

As I said in another post, I am just doing my part to support the true homosexual agenda: bringing about the end of the world. You'd think these wackos would be ENCOURAGING me, since it's what they clearly want.

Not to mention; their comments on that website are implying that humans aren't a species of animal?

I think it just goes to show where one can be led when one blindly accepts a reality without subjecting it to logic or inquiry (also known as faith). Granted, not all faithful are bad, but history shows us that accepting anything without question from a source of authority is a slippery slope to some very negative consequences.

I must say, most of these conservative Christians and conservative Israelis are making Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran look like the moderate one.

Well said, Kat. I would only tweak it a tiny bit, and say from a source of PERCEIVED authority. Being an actual authority is clearly not needed to be able to get people to follow you and accept what you say as fact. The author of that website proves that very convincingly.

I'm reminded of the scene in Life of Brian where the followers are arguing over what to follow. "Follow the shoe!" "No, cast away the shoe and follow the gourd!" No explanation is given for the demands, but if said in an authoritative enough way, people will follow, unquestioningly... and even demand that others follow, unquestioningly.

You are right... humanity is a species of animal. Sheep.

Not sure what you all are so upset about. How about taking them at their words:

1) They are looking forward to the rapture - which signals the second comming of Christ.

2) They support Isreal.

3) They believe that Christianity is the true religion. - Note that they never said anything indicating that they wanted to force anyone to convert.

As I understand Judaism, it is one's actions (not so much their intentions) that count. So I would think most Jews would welcome these people's heartfelt support.

I really have been so very disturbed for a very long time by any number of "christians" who get all excited when there are earthquakes and tsunamis and when there are drive by shootings and such...all claimed as signs that the end is near, that the rapture, as many believe there is to be, is just a blink of the eye away...
And the attitude is "to hell with the rest of the world"...

Now truth be told, I don't believe in a rapture at all. But even when I did, I was disturbed that folk were watching the news, hearing of tragedies, wars, and natural disasters, political implementations in the Middle East, etc. etc. ad nauseum, just to build their own glee that they are gonna get some weird spiritual experience, astral-assumption deal...and leave the world behind, and all its problems.

It seemed so loveless and conflicting with the love of Christ that is to love our neighbors as ourselves and who is our neighbor but every man and woman and child in the whole wide world...

Fiendish and cultic but not truly a marker of individual Christians. Just the machination of religion. And yes, many are swept into it and desensitized to the essential connectedness we are to have to everyone else and to the peace that this planet is meant to know when we all care for one another.
