So it all boils down to how much crap you can swallow basically. The ark shouldn't be taken literally but man laying with man... THAT is spot on!

Sometimes you have to search for truth. I don't think you are inclined to try and find truth in the Bible at your current stage in life.

You certainly love to take those binary, all-or-nothing positions on most things!

Perhaps you could describe this mechanism by which I am astounded. I could understand this mechanism in a child's mind (as, biologically, they're designed to soak in without question information from figures of authority). But an adult? I'm not sure how one goes about switching 'on and off' the logic portion of one's brain. Is it for the sake of comfort? Even so, if I consciously willed 'belief' in something irrational, I would still be haunted by my conscience. I would forever live a life of absurdity; living a delusion while knowing I am living a delusion.

That is fine, you do not have to believe. You do not even have to try to understand why people believe. But you seem pretty quick to dismiss it all as childishness.

I would suggest that you read the Catechism of the Catholic Church or the many commentaries on the Torah. I think you will find that this particular brand of religious belief is firmly grounded in intellectual thought.

Dear Radovan - I could not even begin to guess at the number, as some individual species of insects (especially ants and termites) number in countless billions. Look up the number terms 'google' and 'googleplex' to get some idea.

Sure, How much space do you think would be needed? Picture a football feild now times that by 3. Got it, ok now add three layers of the same size. now line each side with animals, each with a space only a little larger than they are. Not that hard when you think about it.

Doesn't even come close to being able to contain a set of all the species found roaming on earth. We are talking about millions and millions here. Not to mention that Noah could not have completed nor afforded such a grand building process all before the time of modern technology.

you are thinking small. To clarify, 450 ft long with 3 levels. How many large animals are there? How many birds can fit into a 10x10x25 foot area? How much space is needed to contain two ants? Two frogs? The largest elephant in the world is 13 feet tall and 16 feet long full grown, I only need two, so the largest two are only going to need about 18x32 sq feet. If the ark was 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high the largest two will only take up 576sq feet on the 1st floor. That is something like .59% on one floor.
