Everyone has a crisis of faith sometime in their lives...Just shows that although she was saint-like to many people, she was also human. I think many of us can relate to those feelings.

That's true Ali, but the fact that she was still preaching to others, while not sure herself, seems to me to be somewhat dishonest.

More along the lines of, crap, what's his name that got caught with a hooker, than someone who has been suggested for sainthood.

I think labeling her a "phony" is ....simply wrong. A policeman doesn't have to believe in all the laws he enforces but still believe in the "rule of law".

Maybe, maybe not. Just maybe she kept ministering to others to try and heal her own personal delima. Rather then turn her back on it completely, she used ministering to others to find her way back onto that path?

That's always possible. I can see continuing to preach through brief crisis of faith, although I can't say it's something I approve of, but a 50 year long 'crisis of faith'? In one of her letters, she admitted to doubting the existence of heaven and even of God. Even she referred to her preaching as 'hypocrisy'.

Maybe Mother Teresa felt she was either not doing enough or doing too much. I really do feel that she deserves sainthood. The world is a better place because of her.

I read Guidepost magazine, and a man wrote about his experience with Mother Teresa. If he were to be interviewed about whether or not she was a phony, he would say that she was a very saintly nun.

Sorry, you are going to need to be more specific... there have been so many!

Are you thinking of Ted Haggard? The fallen preacher against homosexuality, who got busted with a gay hooker and meth dealer... who is now going to school and wants you to send him money because his severance from the church of 138K a year just isn't enough?

That guy?

Bigotry is a social disease.

Legalized same-sex marriage almost certainly benefits those same-sex couples who choose to marry, as well as the children being raised in those homes. - David Blankenhorn is president of the New York-based Institute for American Values and the author of "The Future of Marriage."

Actually, I was thinking of Jimmy Swaggart. BUT...six of one, half a dozen of another.....
