I don't usually have to deal with trick or treaters, I'm usually somewhere celebrating my birthday which happens to fall on Oct. 31st.

At my kids' school, they have a Holiday Sing, where the songs aren't religious, but celebrate winter. The kids dress up for halloween and have a costume parade on the playground. They exchange valentines. Spring break is not about Easter, but about baby chicks and the life cycles of plants and such.

Basically, it is religion-neutral in that it neither promotes nor downplays anyone's religion. Given the number of religious folks around here, I'm surprised in some ways that they don't try to inject more jesus stuff into the school, but they've struck a fair balance, in my opinion.
Of course trying to ignore Christmas at Christmas time and Easter at Easter time downplays Christianity!!

How is that a fair balance?

ROFLMAO!!!

I do have gary and fx on ignore, but I do think it's funny how one goes to a topic, and the next post is from the other.

Reminds me of that old looney toons cartoon of the big bull dog walking down the street, with the little yapping one right behind, saying "Can I come too, George?"

And I always get a chuckle from people who preach tolerance, and then ignore people they disagree with! (or pretend to!)

It's like the cartoon character of the Emperor (or Empress) with no clothes!

Because ignoring Ramadan downplays Islam.

And ignoring Passover downplays Judaism. (And Jehovah's Witnesses.)

Ignoring the Solstices downplays Wicca and other Pagan religions.

See how that works?
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

I dressed up like a whore for Halloween once.

Didn't get any offers.

Maybe I should have shaved my chest and legs before I put on that low-cut top and short skirt with heels.

I'd like to weigh in here.

I practice a non-Christian religion.

I have no problem with schools and others "observing" Christian holidays -- because it's the most common religion of the culture I live in.

And I don't cry in my soup because nobody wants to celebrate Baha'i holidays with me.

And you remind of that cartoon about the female dog.....that's it, just a cartoon about a female dog.

Last year Spencer and Quinn did Spiderman and Superman, respectively (do you have any idea how hard it was to put enough gel in Quinn's hair to get it to stay in that Superman style?!?!? LOL That kid has a HEAD of hair!!!).

This year, I'm not sure. I'm thinking Captain Hook and Peter Pan.

One year me and the three older boys did The Wizard of Oz. That was a bunch of fun!!!

My guys were Batman and Robin one year. The little one was Robin, of course.
