If you aren't of opposite gender, that may be the case. But until marriage is based on individual people instead of the heterosexual union "man and woman" seems to be just fine.

Your question is starting with homosexuality and working backward. While I start with what we know has a reason and purpose and go forward. How about because sex is a physical AND emotional issue and a human cannot bond emotionally with an animal as they can with a human.I know, I know. you bonded with your cats. and balloons.

well, as I've said, society's ideals and definitions change. this will be just one more thing to change over the years. it will be like citizenship for women and civil rights for blacks. the majority will rule in the end.

FX, I agree with you that homosexuality is probably defective, abnormal behaivor, and any attempts to deny that usually end up being hysterical exersises in denial.

However, the question then becomes is that defect harmful in the context of marriage?

My answer: So far, I haven't seen a good argument along those lines.

There's no good reason why certain mentally retarded people should be denied marriage, IMO, and mental retardation is clearly a defect.

So, if we allow retarded people to marry, why not allow gays?

There IS good reason why married retarded people should not be allowed to have/adopt/raise children.

So, the next logical question: Are there good arguments for why married gays should not be allowed to have/adopt/raise children?

My answer: Again. So far, I've not seen a good argument along those lines.

That isn't true. As women who consider their pets their "children can attest. A human CAN bond quite strongly to an animal. Actually, if my cat got sick though, I'd just go get another cat.

A zoophile would say, just because YOU don't bond with YOUR animals that way doesn't mean that I don't. I think a gay persons urge to partner is just as defective as we both think a zoophiles is.

I agree, this is where the "animals" arguments breaks down. An animal can't really own property, have a will to pass an estate on to its human "spouse" or do any of the other things along those lines that a gay man could do for his husband or a lesbian could do for her wife.

Simply put: Animals are property. Spouses are not.

well, it would certainly seem from the quoted portions of people's posts, that we have entered the 5th Circle of Hell of Circular Arguments....again

I have to wonder about a person who feels the need to put animals and humans on the same level.
