The Bible teaches pretty much the same thing. And, as with the Koran, that is subject to interpretation.

There is a Christian sect in my area called Church of God. (I don't know if they are present in other parts of the country.) Women in this church must never cut their hair and must always wear dresses that extend below the knee. They also are not allowed to use makeup or wear pants.
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

hahahahaha.. well they aint the prettiest cover girls i ever seen but not bad though..

Anyhow this is a magazine that specifically targets "muslims", however there are also a tons and tons of magazines in muslim countries where Islam just isn't relevant.

" Libas" is probably Pakistan's best know fashion publication:

*** Welcome To Libas International Fashion Magzine ***

This is a plain ole fashion magazine .. check it out..

The chick on the title page is Mahreen Raheel.. she used to be in my school .. I'm real lucky like that.. Lots of my class fellows and friends have gone on to become bigshots in the fashion and entertainment industries.. Never hurts to know people like that

And i'm set to make my entry soon also.. got my first radio show on a new channel today.. from next month i'll be doing the morning show *YaaAaAaAAYY*

I'm not sure I follow what you're trying to assert.

Islam was a religion long before Congress even existed.

It's also very much indeed open to interpretation. Hence, Muslim women in some places wear pretty much whatever they want.. and in other places are restricted to veils. In some places, they enjoy all the same rights as men... in others, they can't even drive a car.

It wasn't all that long ago that the Christian world wasn't that much different. Indeed, as has been pointed out, some churches still require that women wear only dresses and are allowed to wear their hair only in certain ways.

(The Bible, BTW, also recomends veils for women, at least in chuch.)

Well it seems that you have been grossly misinformed nckitty...

1.2 billion muslims are divided into 73 major sects and innumerable sub-sects. There are major variations in how islam is interpreted, from country to country, even from city to city. It is true that certain elements seek to claim exclusive rights to interpretation, but that is neither a reality nor is it theologically ordained.
In fact Islam is one of theonly major religions in the world to NOT have a divinely sanctioned clergy. Nowhere in the Quran is there any mention of ayatollahs, mullahs, maulanas or anything of the like. In Islam ANYBODY can lead his fellows in prayer. That includes women too.
However the above are things that the self-appointed mullahs are extremely eager to stamp out.. if everybody can lead men in prayer then there is no reason for their profession, and if WOMEN can lead prayers, then it is a major defeat for their "women in the house, men on the battlefield" mentality.
So while some religious leaders seek to deny every human's right to interpret Islam ( actively making sure they never learn of it ) the theology itself does not grant exclusivity to anybody. That mean it is ALWAYS open to interpretation by ANYBODY.

Now if you were to disqualify Islam because you believe ( wrongly ) that it is not open for interpretation, then i would ask you to glance for a moment at the Roman Catholic Church. Now THERE is an organization that does NOT allow for free interpretation. It is ONLY the clergy that is allowed to interpret and preach Catholicism, and ultimately ONLY ONE SINGLE INDIVIDUAL ( the Pope ) is allowed to interpret the religion.

This exclusivity is part of Church LAW in catholicism, whereas nothing in islam's theology allows for such exclusivity. Think about it.
