It is actually antithetical to his message and teachings. i know, but it is in the book anyway, which is the point i was trying to make. the bible is full of instructions and ideas such as this that are antithetical to the message that Jesus was trying to put across. i find these sort of passages good at illustrating why the bible should not be read literally as an instruction book for life. it can be useful as a more vague guide to being ethical, but you need to be able to untangle the message of Jesus from the ridiculous parts. | |||||||||||||||||||||
