What's the real difference as long as they are amicable to the idea of it. As if a 17 year old marrying a 14 year old really makes that much of a difference. As long as they are happy right? I thought marriage was about love.
You mean 14 year olds in Texas could love until 2005?

You don't know what evidence the government does or does not have.

So under assumed innocent until proven guilty, aren't we supposed to assume innocence? Although I have not read a single news story with one of THESE women denouncing her religion to get her kids back. No news items of any of these "girls" saying they were forced into marriage. No credible news piece on any proof of welfare fraud. Just a lot of accusations. The main one was by a 16 year old girl which turned out to be a hoax. The man in the warrant hadn't been anywhere near that place in YEARS. I'm sorry, this whole thing is bullshit.

I DO know the government doesn't have the evidence that supports the original reason the news said they went into the place. Even if they do find out a few girls did get pregnant before their newly created legal age of 16, what about it? You gonna take a few men to jail. Big whoop. Still not worth taking 450 kids away from their parents.

If it's true then those dirty old men need to spend time in prison. And so do the wives/mothers who allowed their daughters to be raped.

*gulp* I actually...agree...with...gary...on this one. If there is even a chance that children were being victimized, and they have no idea which children, then it's unfortunate, but the law is the law.

Now, fx, if it was a gay compound, or Pagan instead of Christian, would you be defending these people so much? Just curious.

I would bet anything that if this group were a bunch of homosexuals 'indoctrinating' children into that kind of lifestyle, you would be the first one on the bandwagon to take those kids away from their parents.

I worry that someone who thinks like him is raising children, if he can't see what the problem with this situation is. 14 year olds aren't following a real love. They aren't emotionally mature enough to know the difference between hormones and love. Hell, most adults can't seem to get that one right either. But for a young girl who has been indoctrinated into a cult since birth to be offered up to anyone for sexual purposes or slavery is unacceptable and illegal. Religious liberty is not the freedom to to abuse children or women or anyone else.

How's anybody going to believe that FX thinks that the FLDS were persecuted by the authorities there?

The difference is that a "bunch of homosexuals" wouldn't be the parents of children.

How do you figure?

I've heard of male homosexuals impregnating surrogate mothers.

I've heard of lesbians using a friend or sperm banks to have babies.

Physically, they are just as capable as you or me to procreate.

Just because they prefer not to have sex with the opposite sex doesn't mean they are physically incabable of doing so.
