And that is utterly unacceptable IMHO. If they find unlawful behavior though, arrest them.

Has anyone looked at how these types of compounds survive?

On Government money. Since polygamy is illegal, the men only show to have one wife, therefore the other women that have children, are "single" moms that don't have a job, therefore they are getting government monies ie: welfare, foodstamps etc, to support them and their children. It's a big business to them. These women are money making birthing machines.
