On Government money. Since polygamy is illegal, the men only show to have one wife, therefore the other women that have children, are "single" moms that don't have a job, therefore they are getting government monies ie: welfare, foodstamps etc, to support them and their children. It's a big business to them. These women are money making birthing machines.
How does that differ from any number of women doing that with multiple children by unknown men. That's status quo for many segments of the population. We have had threads about that on this very site. There also another source according to this site.

One answers is, FLDS men are highly industrious and very successful in the construction business. They have numerous companies spread across the Southwest, which until recently has seen a building boom, and their earnings are funneled back into the church and its leadership. The sect excels at underbidding other construction outfits, because it employs boys from its own community without having to pay them much—or nothing at all. Some have called this “slave labor.” The FLDS has undercut its competition not just in the private marketplace, but also in government contracts.

The difference is these are many women and 1 man, instead of many men and one woman. Either way you look at it, it is not right.

It doesn't "employ" anyone. These boys are forced to work or forced out of the compound.

That's not much of a difference. My cousin has 5 kids by 3 baby's mommas. I don't see the difference. That's de facto polygamy. If all those baby mommas get government assistance, and I know they do, because he ain't working, I don't see the difference.

And in case you haven't been in a rural setting or on a farm, you start doing heavy duty chores at a young age.
In the regular world you work or you are out on your arse. We pay rent taxes, fees etc. In a community like that everyone probably has a share of the work. Hell it ain't like there ain't more than enough nepotism, fraud, dishonestly, and outright corruption in regular government as well. Besides, I haven't heard of any OSHA complaints about underage workers. It seems there are a LOT of allegations going on about this church on general, but only sporadic actual convictions for wrongdoing. Somebody is lying. And so far we have a wrong count of the number of kids that were pregnant, no 16 year old abused girl, no proven welfare fraud, a report of broken bones that turned out to be well within normal statistical ranges, a court that refused due process when taking all the kids from what amounts to a whole town. I'm sorry, I don't see the justification for this.

Working on a home farm is a far cry from employing your children to work in a business that provides a service. There is a difference there.

Al Capone was never convicted on any charge but income tax evasion. Does anyone here doubt that he was guilty of many more serious and heinous crimes than that?
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

Really? In what way? For starters, we have to prove that happens. We are talking government construction contracts. You have to be a certain age to work on a construction site. Do you have any proof that they are allowing "children" to work on government construction sites. Are there any OSHA convictions of widespread underage employees on any of these construction sites? I haven't found any.
I have heard they allow/make the children work on the compound, but that IS just like a farm. My grandmother had 16 children on my families farm in south GA. And I know for a fact, that many of my aunts and uncles worked the fields and took care of animals from a very young age.
Some of these things are easy to prove in THIS day and age. Underage workers, welfare fraud etc. Everything is listed on a computer. All claimed children, ages, social security numbers. If there is any welfare being collected, we can be sure it ain;t by an underage mother. And if a woman is claiming an inordinate number of dependents, it should throw off a red flag. I haven't heard a single subpoena or allegation of those events in THIS case. So again, we have even more thinking with emotion without waiting for the facts to come out. The hypocrisy here is spellbinding.

The agents prosecuting Al Capone didn't have the tools available to the police and federal authorities now. The allegations leveled on the FLDS are easily proven by DNA, benefits cross referencing and matching, and simple common sense. Not to mention, some of the allegations simply are legal. 14 year old brides are legal in some states, single women claiming welfare payments is too. And legally they ARE single since we don't allow polygamous marriages. If polygamy were allowed and they were staying single to claim welfare, that would be fraud, but since they can't get married, they are doing nothing illegal by collecting welfare.

Elaborate? Innocent until proven guilty is how we handle legal accusations in this country.
