Yeah, good arguments on both sides of this one. Of course, I think we all agree, what is best for the children?

That's very nice, but what we don't have is any proof of it in this case. What we have are 1000 people living on a compound that are being persecuted. They live a lifestyle that we don't like or even agree with, but it's their lifestyle. One that they aren't sharing with anyone or trying marching down main street to show their "pride" in it.
One conviction of one man for arranging a marriage and no real evidence of abuse speaks MUCH louder than these accusations.
What is more important is that ALL the kids were supposed to healthy, ALL of them were happy and well mannered, and not a single report of any of them wanting to leave that lifestyle. Until you have a group of these women that are clamoring to leave and join the outside world, I don't see any abuse. It looks like we give women the "right" to kill a fetus, but after is is born, now we are telling them that they way they live and are raising their child is up to the state and can be revoked at any time. Even if no abuse is proven. Bullshit.
I think Texas is gonna end up paying some of these people a huge sum of money in Civil court.

I guess you haven't heard of Fumarase Disease which was very rare until it popped up in only two places, Colorado City, Arizona, and the other FLDS compound in Utah. It ain't pretty. And fx, once again, 13 year old girls cannot legally consent to spiritual or any other kind of marriage. That is the law of the land, and there is clear evidence of sexual abuse and neglect in these FLDS communities. Your refusal to see that doesn't change the facts.

I am aware of it. I read about it on a blog. What about it?. What are you gonna do, tell people they can't associate with each other? It's not caused by underage sex. And it's not caused by incest, it's genetic. Although it might be spread in a closed situations such as these compounds over time. Here's a bit more.
Until 1990 Tarby says he knew of only 13 cases of Fumarase Deficiency worldwide. Since, it has taken hold in the FLDS community because of intermarriage. "If you have two parents with the gene," Tarby says, "you are going to have a one-in-four chance of having a child afflicted with it." Depending on the severity of the disorder, children may die in childhood or may survive into early adulthood; if a person who has developed the disorder goes on to have a child, his or her chances of passing it on are one in two. But diagnosing the condition is difficult and requires extremely careful testing, the doctor says. His research, published in 2006, identified 20 cases within the Hildale-Colorado City enclave. "I would expect there are going to be Fumarase Deficiency cases there in Texas," he said.

Don't forget the Jews have genetic diseases too. For closed breeding I bet.

And if we find 13 year old girls that have, then do something about that particular case, but we have 400 kids and 200 adults so far. Can't blame the entire group for the actions of that couple of people. And if they are 14, which is obviously an arbitrary number since they just raised it on a whim, I have no problem with it.

Where is the evidence of sexual abuse and neglect? I haven't seen any report of it. Only the contrived illegal kind. Which ain't abuse, just illegal.

You have refused to see the evidence because you obviously don't want to. And the disease is genetic and occurs when close family relations marry. Ther are allegations that the FLDS people kill them at birth. I guess that's okay too?

But the police aren't there for "close interfamily breeding". The police raided on false pretenses and have taken children that are NOT 16. You are skipping to a premise that's not in contention in any of the news releases or justified in THIS case.
So are you advocating controlling the actions of adults now? Still hypocritical.

Kill who at birth? Any proof of this or is it just allegations. I'm sorry, but allegations is what got this raid in the first place...and we see how that panned out.

Wrong Fx. We still haven't got the info on who belongs to who. There are kids there that aren't with their parents. They get passed between communities like commodities. You are wrong about this. It is a dangerous cult.

When you are born into something, and aren't allowed to know anything else, that isn't a lifestyle choice. I can't believe how forgiving people here are for this insanity.
The teenaged girls who were forced to have sex with men, made it necessary in the end for the authorities to go in there and take them out of the compound. There's sure to be more to come. Nancy Grace will keep on with this.

This "cult" is as dangerous as we make it out to be. What is the danger in a self supportive society that is keeping to themselves and not bothering anyone else. So they do a few things that we don't like. There is nothing going on there that can't be traced to U.S. history. And if the people are happy, and there is no indication that they aren't, I say leave them the "f" alone.

You sound a bit paranoid.

Yeah, that's the issue: what mothers go with what children? Also, have they really been abused? I don't know.
