| Religion What is your take on religion? Do you base your thoughts in life according to your religion? Do you feel that religion should be kept out of Government and Politics? |

| I'm actually very glad to see that at least her at DTT; it appears that peope are now starting to actually listen to what Wright said; before jumping to the wrong conclusion that he is some race-baiting nut. He really isn't. I think he was being unfaitly judged by some simply because of his style of preaching. It scares many Whites because they have rarely- if ever- been exposed to just how animated Black preachers arewhen they deliver their sersons. I bet he's not so scary now! | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Unfortunately, many of the commentators are calling him a wacko and a fringe loony. That disturbs me. Especially if those who are saying that, have never been to a black church or bothered to understand the history of it, or they refuse to empathize with the conditions that led to it's concern with social justice, inequality, and unjust government policies. They feel contempt at the scolding of the government by the black church, and they call anyone who would bring attention to the injustices that have been perpetrated by our policies, unpatriotic, or hating America. And Grace, Reverend Wright is a true follower of the gospel and has never advocated violence or anything other than reconciliation, understanding and justice. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| He isn't speaking exclusively to the black community. It isn't racist. He speaks about bad policies in totality, not only those that effect black people. You know thinkgs like poverty, unjust war, corruption, etc. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I didn't vote for him in my state's primary either. Rev. Wright is a pastor, not a politician. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Nobody's trying to convince you into voting for him Grace. I would've though, but couldn't, so I voted for McCain. Lesser of many evils thing you know? Everything I say is a lie, and that is the truth. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I agree with Mike, Grace; who you support is strictly your business-as are the reasons why. You don't have to change your beliefs for anybody. I do agree with WT, hoever; that many Whites consider Reverend Wright to be a wacko and even worse. I am positive this is because they have never been exposed to a Black preacher's style. It scares them. Now, just as the moderator at Wright's speech at the Press Club was asked: Have you actually heard his sermon, or just the YouTube representation of it? It's interesting to see that many people are now either realizing that they may have unfaily judged Wright by not bothering to listen to his whole sremon, or even reading a text of it. Gary may be correct in his assertion that this might not help Obama to gain more votes among Whites. I agree that "you can't unbreak a light bulb" (a favorite quote of my father's).But I also realize that what Wright is meaning is that he (Wright) is not running for any public office. If people wish to question him about what he means, then address your questions to him; and not Obama. Obama has responded as much by saying that Wright does not speak for him in his sermons. If people want to know what he (Obama) feels towards any given topic, this should be addressed to him! That's all this whole commotion is about! | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I actually watched the full sermons as well as read the transcripts of the full sermons days after the media blew the stories... The stange thing is, that in the portions the media were claiming of what he'd said, they'd left out that he was actually QUOTING a US Embassador in the instances about our nation 'being damned'... Basically, the words weren't his own, but someone else's that he was agreeing with? That he was adding his own sense of communication into of his agreeance from a religious standpoint. Yet, none of that has come out in the media, and it's still painted as they were his statements alone? Then to top it off, the reporters who made the claims about Obama's supposedly being present as those meetings, did retract those claims later on...But that got less then 10 seconds of air time, as well as only a short retraction paragraph at the news sources that made the inaccurate claims. It's really easy to come to an assumption when one is only given part of the 'story'...As was done in Wright's case then put onto the shoulders of Obama. Then add into that most of those jumping on the band wagon have little experience in a 'Black church'? It's just a recipe for misinformation/blame fests to begin with. The thing is, those opposed to Obama to begin with, wanted a scandal to smear him with...And the media fed into that, to boost ratings and sales. | |||||||||||||||||||||
