Religion What is your take on religion? Do you base your thoughts in life according to your religion? Do you feel that religion should be kept out of Government and Politics?

Tadpole, you cannot actually believe this stuff can you? What happened to you? I know your mama raised you better than this. Why did you turn your back on Jesus? He'll never turn his back on you...

All these good people on this site, Grace, Gary, Knot_e_Lady, alias, and others have tried time and time again to talk some sense into you, tried to show you the love that god has in his heart for you, but all you can do is viciously attack them, time and time again... Shame on you sir! SHAME!

Your judgement will come.

I do believe this stuff. I did not turn my back on Jesus, I just don't believe he was the messiah, nor do I believe there is a single supreme being judging us all.

As for the people you mentioned, I have never viciously attacked any of them. I merely express my beliefs, then listen as they express theirs, then we offer a point and counter-point. That's called debate.

Christ commanded us to turn the other cheek, to offer up more to thieves, to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to care for the poor... That's my God. Love your neighbor as yourself.

Your path to God is Burger King. You want it your way. You would rather work hard and try to earn salvation rather than be given it freely.
That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I believe that it isn't enough to say that you believe in something, you have to back it up everyday with actions. You can say that you are a Christian, but that doesn't mean you won't kick the homeless guy stitting on your steps on the way in, and still think that because you've given yourself over to Jesus you are living righteously in your faith. I chose to work hard at finding out what I believed, because another thing I've learned in life is that it is better to come to the truth through one's active search, then to be told what to belive in, without real soul searching.

No, he wasn't. Medgar Evers was killed in his own driveway, but MLK was murdered on the balcony of a hotel.

I know if someone had a gun to my head and told me to renounce the Goddess, I would do it in a heartbeat if it meant that I would live. She knows what is really in my heart, and would want me to do what I had to in order to survive, as long as I didn't willingly put anyone else in danger in the process.
You know, there are people who would die rather then renounce.

I am completely devoted to the Lord. How could you take me seriously if I state otherwise?

Which the Christian doctrine commands believers.

You can say that you are a Christian, but that doesn't mean you won't kick the homeless guy stitting on your steps on the way in, and still think that because you've given yourself over to Jesus you are living righteously in your faith.
You assume that I treat homeless badly.

I chose to work hard at finding out what I believed, because another thing I've learned in life is that it is better to come to the truth through one's active search,
The Bible tells believers to test the our faith to find any flaws.

then to be told what to belive in, without real soul searching.
Yet you promote universalism, which doesn't commit to anything.

I can tell you need a longer vacation; maybe from me.

Universalism is not what I promote. I don't assume anything about you, I was just randomly giving an example. I had a great vacation, and I know that a person does not need to live their lives according to writings from ancient times, in order to be a Christian and follow the teachings of Jesus. My point is that the organised religion known today as Christianity, is a product of a power driven institution, and not entirely in accordance with the actual teachings of Jesus, but is mostly based on the writings of someone who never knew him, and who was not an unbiased individual. That would be Paul, and the Christianity most follow would more appropriately be called Paulianity. It is far from being the education that Jesus had in mind.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about. Paul promoted the teachings of Christ in all his epistles, including his two letters to Timothy. He went into greater depth on many subjects, like faith instead of works.

I agree that many churches today don't promote the teachings of Christ. This has lead to what are many sects, or denominations. Paul warned against forming sects. Paul also refers to himself numerous times as the least of the saints.

Well, I would certainly agree with Paul's analysis of his position. And the teachings that he elaborated on, are just that, his elaborations. I don't think that much of what he says is the way the Jesus would have taught. And Paul formed his own sect, so of course he wouldn't want any competitors infringing on what his interpretation of the message of Jesus was. And I do know what I'm talking about, I just don't agree with everything that you say about religion.
