Religion What is your take on religion? Do you base your thoughts in life according to your religion? Do you feel that religion should be kept out of Government and Politics?

Its not for sale, its free. You must be born again in spirit. Our sins make us dead to God. Read John chapter 3.

Yes, as I said, I already WAS a "born again" Christian. And I'm intimately familiar with John 3, and verse 16 in particular, as it was drilled into our heads at church. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son...." Yes, I know the Bible proably as well as you do!

BUT I realized that I didn't need a religion where I was the "lost soul" that needed to be "saved". I found a religion that doesn't view humans as automatically "tainted" and one in which we are in control of our own destiny. We are our own saviour or destroyer.

Do you think we should choose a religion like a pair of shoes - find the one that suits us best?

Or do you believe there are certain unavoidable universal truths?

What have you discovered? How will you go to heaven?

Or did you just find a convenient way to assuage your personal guilt and satisfy your yearnings to be 'different'?

Why would I want to go somewhere that I know doesn't exist? And I've discovered many wonderful things about how life on this planet (and beyond) works and the powers that we all posess as the marvelous beings that we are.

I don't see how believing any of the things I believe would accomplish any of that.

If anything, don't you think that having some super high being "grant" you absolution of your sins smacks of "assuaging personal guilt"?

You told me, in another thread, that I can't know what heaven truly is unless I've been there. Now, your stating that it doesn't exist at all. Make up your mind, already.

Humanism 101. You want to create an utopian society, peace on earth, etc...yet you're here arguing with me. Not very superior of you.
