I would have thought the connection I made, and HOW I was making it, was obvious. But obviously you flubbed it all up...

You are mind-boggling!
I DIDN'T NEED TO say anything about the verse "being about the love of money" because the verse EXPLICITLY SAYS it's about "love of money".

What do you expect?
foundit quoting MotherGoose: Jack and Jill went up the hill.
foundit afterwards: "Mothergoose is saying Jack and jill went up the hill."

It seems so obvious that I don't need to point it out...

Please try to be accurate. I was talking about the BIBLE IN GENERAL being b.s. regarding it being the word of god.

You have repeatedly tried to misrepresent or misinterpret what I said.
And then when I try to correct you, you claim I'm dishonest.

You are absolutely MIND-BOGGLING!

My god you can't see anything but your own perspective, can you.
I'm posing a question regarding why the RELIGIOUS RIGHT, which does believe in the bible, is in bed with the RICH REPUBLICAN party.

It is THEIR situation I am commenting on. Not my own.
I never claimed to believe the bible. I don't need to believe in the bible to point out that hypocrisy. Using the Bible to point out the hypocrisy in others who claim to follow the bible (while I don't believe in the bible) IS NOT dishonest.

It is UNBELIEVABLE how you insist on staring at the sun and calling it the moon!
That verse is not about politics. Now you're trying to connect it to the Republican party. You are a dishonest person in my humble opinion. I don't think I'm alone just as you are not alone in thinking I am ignorant. You're dishonest and I'm ignorant. Congratulations.

Only because that's the context of where they hang out.
Personally, I don't like religion involved in politics at all. Democrat or republican.

There you go again with that passive-aggressive attack...

You are really cracking me up today. Thanks for the laugh. Sorry for the attack. I'll try to be more polite.

Rants apart i think the thread was about whether it is possible to be liberal and religious at the same time.

Personally i think that liberal politics is more religious than conservative politics. Here's why:

All religions teach you to love your neighbor. Conservatives in america want the world to exist FOR america. And they are willing to exploit whoever they have to. Not very neighbor loving is it?

All religions teach you to take care of the poor. Conservatives generally want reduced government spending on healthcare and education and social services. Not really considering the poor and downtrodden is it?

All religions teach that human life is valuable. Yet conservative politics dictates the wiping out of opposition by force rather than by debate, dialogue and compromise. Conservative politcs would like more money spent on weapons so that non-believers can be bombed into subjugation. Conservative politcs rant and rave about the rights of unborn feti, but conversely support the invasion of foreign countries that kill thousands upon thousands of people. Is that valuing human life?

Jesus was most certainly a liberal. He went against the conservatives of his own people ( the jewish rabbis ) and was crucified. Buddha was a liberal. He went against the hindu pundits ( conservatives ) of his time and was ostracized. Mohammad was a liberal. He went against the conservative idol worshipers of Mecca and was exiled. Socrates was a liberal. He was executed for going against conservative dogma.

Yeah all leading prophets were totally conservative in their time.
Love for all, Hatred for none

Wasn't that the album where - on the inside cover - the Doobie Brothers were all standing there naked with their "guitars in front of their organs"?

I liked China Grove better...
