You claim that God had something to do with the bible based on the opinion of people living 2000 years ago. Not much of a source.
And there is every possibility that YOU could be wrong.

In addition, there is the CERTAINTY that you are bigotted and hateful toward religious people - which is interesting, in light of the fact that you claim to be an educated, intellectual liberal that is above all that kind of crap. In reality, you're not different than the Fundy Bible Thumpers or Fundy Muslims. Full of hatred, and extremely religious about your religion.

Oh, my previous post I had posed some questions to Alias in response to the very first post of this thread, and also the questions were directed toward Christians in general. I will re-quote them for convenience:

Don't take these questions to be contemptuous of Christianity. I'm just interested in your response to these two questions, and of other Christians' responses, considering you say that "the bible explicitly states"...well then I must ask of you, why should I believe the bible in the first place. Why should I believe in the legitimacy of what it says before I even face the point you pose?

Jesus was not a common man either. Forget everything else. Don't you think that there must be some rationale to his message since so many at the time followed him. I do not believe that he could have conned so many. And i don't believe he would have died for a con. Just simple psychology. He WAS after all a human.

However whatever he said he must have believed in. And if could tell people the truth of what he believed and gain so many supporters. Well there must have been something to it. However i think that since we are 2000 years from him it is harder to understand what he said then.

That is why many religious edicts of all major religions seem so non-sensical. Man has not forgotten what Jesus and the prophets said. They have however forgotten what they MEANT.

aristotle's writings do not require FAITH. They are science. Aristotle was a naturalist. He observed nature and wrote his observations and deductions based on available evidence.

THe Old and New Testament, the Quran and the Vedas all require that one must BELIEVE before one can truly understand.

He most certainly did say he was God in the flesh.
What i don't understand is that christ obviously didn't speak english. And we all know that concepts lose meaning when translated. This very sentence could have implied something entirely different in the time and language it was said in.

Can you trust translators through the ages to have done the concepts justice? Incidentally i have the same scepticism about all religious text.
