Liberals will deny the existance of God, and yet believe miraculously in evolution. Some how, some way, everything just kind of developed on its own without any design or designer, and the odds of that happening are lesss than tossing a couple billion letters on the ground and having them miraculously form a Webster's dictionary.

Hmm.. then according to your definition, I'm not a liberal. I believe in God. What does that make me, then?

That's fine.

But the hard-core Muslim definition of peace is for everyone to submit to Allah (this is what the word Islam means) under Shariah Law.

So... once again, whose definition of peace are you going to use? Without a "transcendent" standard, the world is simply at the mercy of whoever has the biggest guns.

Here is my thing...

I don't have a problem with being religious. Believe it or not I have some very well developed religious beliefs of my own. What I do have a problem with is zealots of any kind, and anyone who wants to impose their views on others. If you are judging me based on a measuring stick that is set by YOUR religion, that is wrong.

I don't like extremist Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Amish or extremist anyone else for that matter. You could say I am EXTREMELY Moderate. I am such an extreme moderate I don't even like myself...

But ya gotta watch for the extremist Amish...

When you say that people shouldn't impose their views on others, you are negating that very statement! That statement is an imposition on others' views!

No it's not. I am not forcing you to agree with me. I am stating how I feel. Furthermore I only make such a statement when in a situation like this where I am asked, or it is appropriate to the subject.

If you define "imposing your views" as "forcing people to agree with you", then I don't know if people ever impose their views on others (except those who carry out the beheadings in Iraq).

Well, I think the imposition of views is also when you present them in a condescending or judgmental way. Talk to an Evangelivcal Christian, you'll get a lot of this... "Well the bible says..." and "God forgive you..." nonsense...

I understand saying "the Bible says" if we are discussing the bible, but when discussing morality it does not enter into it. Now if they said "The reason I believe 'X' is because the Bible says..." I'd be ok with that, but all to often they just say "Well the Bible says..." as if I am supposed to go "HOLY SHIT! IF A 2000 YEAR OLD STORY BOOK SAYS IT, THEN BY GOLLY IT MUST BE TRUE!"
