The situation had to be defused by the NBA allowing this player to do his prayers in the locker room during the national anthem. It was ruled that his right to prayer and religious freedom is absolute and that he cannot be denied it. I think the decision was wise in that a workable solution was arrived at that satisfied all involved. The player is allowed his religious rights, and in a manner that is lawful and unnoffensive.
And what does that have to do with a woman - at a fitness club - who expects to NOT be interrupted in her prayers?

Apples & Oranges.

Again; I cite the example of the NBA game. What happened in that incident seems to be pretty much the theme of these other two; apparently solved by allowing the person to pray on their own time in private. Smart, because it violates no laws.

Okay. What is she doing going to a gym to pray where people are working out. A gym is not the most spiritual place. You don't see any coincidence between this and the muslim men praying at the airport and drawing attention to themselves and then hollering racists when they are acting suspicious? Read this.

I never said that you said that Alias. Wake the hell up and pay attention.
A school is not like a gym, is it. Schools control the level of noise and talking, unlike gyms.

A school has MORE restrictions than the gym.
THAT was my point.

ROFLMAO!
Yeah. It's their parents and third parties like you who are insisting that we must allow the Christians to pray in the schools. THEY are the ones who are complaining...

You tried to side-step my point, but failed miserably.
Schools are all about controlling the level of noise to improve concentration, ergo my comment.
Saying that the Christians praying in the schools is an amusing commentary on WHO IS ACTUALLY COMPLAINING about the school prayer issue, but irrelevant to my point. It actually shows why school prayer complaints have less validity than this woman's complaint.

Keep on trying to side-step. It's amusing!

Muslims, unlike Christians, have a rigorous routine for prayer. Perhaps she goes to the gym to work out, finishes showering, and then it's that time of the day for her to pray so she takes care of it in the gym.
Who knows.
Who CARES.

There is nothing wrong with her doing it, and you complaining about it only reveals your own prejudice.

OMG! You're right!
Because all Muslims OBVIOUSLY think alike and have a devious plan to complain.
Oh wait. No. That's the Christians...

You're worse than Lucy.
Lucy kept tossing up that story about the Jewish person who raped and killed, milking it for everything he could get.
And now you're going to do likewise with this dumb story, stereo-typing BILLIONS of muslims based on the actions of a few muslims.

Well, two can play at that game, right?

There. I just proved what hatefilled people Christians in general are...

Why all of a sudden are muslims being offended so easily these days. The article says she has been going to the gym for 7-8 years and now all of a sudden she is offended. The muslims at the airport in Minneapolis are offended. Who is calling the media? Am I the only one seeing something going on or is everyone else so politically correct that they are afraid to mention the obvious?
Hmm.. you don't see a connection between a rise in complaints and/or sensitivity to offense and the fact that so many Americans seem to regard Islam as an evil religion?

There is not enough information in the article to know exactly what took place at the gym to make the muslim woman complain to the manager. So we're jumping to all sorts of conclusions prematurely... well, some of us are...

Dunno who is calling the media... they don't report that, do they?

Well, it is a very evil religion. If you have ever read the Quran you would know that. You do not find it odd that all of a sudden we have 2 storys about muslims claiming bigotry during their prayers. I am not jumping to a conclusion. I am asking questions that some people keep dancing around obvious answers because of their political correctness. I never heard any stories like this 10 years ago in America. Dhimitude.

Okay. Christians can pray anywhere and anytime. I don't see any Christians complaining about being interrupted in prayer. Do you have any news stories like that about Christians? No. All this Muslim sensitivity must all be a gigantic coincidence isn't it. Muslims in England demanding special holidays. Muslims demanding separate prayer rooms in airports. They are too good to pray in the designated chapel. Muslims demanding we respect Mohamed or they call us names right on this forum. All I do is print passages from the Quran and the muslim says I am taking them out of context. What is the context of chop off the unbeliever's head that I am missing? Explain the context of that one to me. Yeah, it must be me. I'm just a hateful, mean bigot. It's all my fault that muslims are murdering each other and everyone else every day. Yeah, George Bush made em mad. They were all very polite until Bush became president. I mean, they never murdered those Jewish athletes in Berlin during the Olympics. It wasn't those nice muslims who pushed a cripple off a ship into the ocean because he was a Jew. Nah, those muslims just need a big hug and understanding. They don't hate anyone.

Liberal political correctness = Hate Christians. Show tolerance to muslims no matter what.

Any religion can be evil if the individuals decide to use it for evil. (According to Gary Will in What Jesus Meant, Jesus followed no religion.)

No, I don't find it odd. I think it's an offshoot of the tension that seems to be growing among people. Lessen the tension, and people will complain less.

Well, I don't recall any stories like these 10 years ago, either, but could be I just wasn't paying attention or am having a senior moment.
