The world, as we know it could change dramatically.

WOULD IT BE SUCH A BAD THING?
Planes would fall out of the sky, life support systems would fail, massive stores of food would spoil and be unusable, heating systems would go down, and billions of people would die from various other consequences, but I'd expect the world to return to being a more agrarian, or at the most pre-electric industrial society.

Membership in Amish communities, I'd expect, would grow exponentially.

This could possibly solve some of the problems particular Amish sects have had with inbreeding. In recent years a local sect of Amish advertised for new blood and paid for it literally.

I have heard of that going on. They've got a lot of problems, but they're basically one of the more peaceful, tolerant religions. I was actually very touched (and that doesn't happen often) when they forgave the man who shot up one of their schools in Lancaster and extended condolences to his wife.
