just to be fair, I personally will not put any stock in those quoted statements you have collected from sundry websites. Moot point.

The internet can be found to say as many negative things as positive about any people group, any individual.

If you gathered even a hundred statements, it would not impress me with the disparity shown to gay people. I am very sure I could find tons and tons of kudos and words of love and acceptance to those who are gay.

I have two children with developmental disabilities, not to compare that to an inherant sexual orientation, but to be factual about numbers...there are sites where people say bad and heartless things about the mentally retarded and handicapped too. I could harvest such hate and think I got a fight on my hands. But I know that there are just as many and many more statements that can be found that show the tide of social consciousness has been raised and people are reaching out to the special population with newfound attitudes, and the support is growing.

Is there more work that needs to be done? Sure. And it takes time. Special issues require legislation too.
But the inroads have been made by education and a right and honorable, honest presentation.

Tristan, I pray you will be encouraged to see that the gay glass is half full not half empty, and that you will believe to know it filled as you continue to live a day at a time in the integrity of first being identified as created by a Loving God and then by being identified as a fellow human-being to reach out to others, and lastly but not the least as a gay man. I will keep it a secret if you will.
That means don't show even casual affection to your significant other. No kiss goodbye at the airport. No holding hands while strolling down the street. No joint ownership of property. No joint tax returns. No answer when asked for marital status. No sharing the birth experience of your child. No anniversary dinners in a restaurant. No wedding ceremony. No romantic gifts in front of others on special occasions. No introduction of your significant other to another person as anything other than an acquaintance who just happens to be standing there. No designation as your emergency contact. No laws granting your spouse automatic inheritance in the event of your death without a will. No confirmation to anyone that you are indeed the parent of your children unless your children were conceived through artificial means or immaculate conception as that would imply you had sex.

No expressions of grief if your significant other dies. No expressions of worry to anyone because your significant other is ill or injured. No sharing hotel rooms with one bed as that implies a sexual relationship. Don't take advantage of family plans for anything since that will imply that you have sex with someone.

If it can't be done completely in secret, don't do it at all if it gives any indication of your sexuality. No one can know you are anything other than an asexual lump of flesh. That way, no one can be offended at your existence.

I know. I know. It sounds like a lot of work but surely if we ***moderator deletion*** can do it, you straight people can do it too. A relationship will be just grand as long as no one has an inkling that you are bumping pelvises. Just pretend.

Once again, making judgements based on nothing. You're fully aware that I'm supportive of gays because a good portion of people are not. I really don't care where my blood comes from so long as it's screened because if you're in critical condition, you don't really care who saves your life so long as it's saved. Hell, if I got a transfusion from Tristan I'd probably brag and say my recovery was fabulous!
