Well, seeing as jesus is also MY prophet i figured i would add my two cents worth

it is evident from everything in jesus' life that he had no place for venegance or hatred in his heart. I believe that any violent, hateful, destructive or bigoted opinion to have emanated from the church over the past 2000 years is the direct result of human exploitation of people's faith in jesus.

I do not believe that Jesus would have condoned the crusades as an ideological war. He would not have condoned the inquisition. He would not have condoned the catholic/protestant persecutions in various christian nations. He would not have condoned the absolute supremacy of the church (at least not at the expense of love and forgiveness ).

As any other man of god he lived and died with love and forgiveness.

Anybody who justifies violence and aggression in the name of a man of god is just WRONG, and i marvel at the level of self-denial these people must have to still think they are righteous.

Which is incidentally what the radical muslims of today are doing with the name of Mohammad. I realize that most of you consider him a violent warlord.. but is it possible that non-christians of the middle ages may have thought the same about Jesus? After all his followers invoked HIS name to justify their violence.

And in case anybody wishes to start "mohammad bashing" again.. well give it a rest for now.. i happen to be AGREEING with the devout christians here.

Ummmmm... First of all, Muhammad WAS a violent murderer. He DID have 11 wives - one of them (his favorite, Aisha) being a 9-year old girl. It's historic fact.

Also, I really don't know that anybody who has ever read the Gospels - or even the apocryphal Gospels - would see Jesus as a violent, vengeful man.

Clearly the Crusades were wrong and stupid. But even pro-Crusade people would admit that they were not about following the teachings of Jesus. In addition, you have to be honest about what led directly to the Crusades - and you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

The path to being spiritually enlightened will never come from a lie about God or a man made text. No one can objectively know a damn thing about God. That is why faith is required in religion and not something with more substance that you could objectively confirm.

The world is in DIRE NEED of spiritual honesty. I hope everyone can stop lying about God one day.
--- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope ---

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.
