This is also a very valid point. There is also the possibility that some ne'er do-wells could strive to rack up the points and the banishments...

Why Winston? This isn't yahoo and there are those here that will use it to abuse the other members with by choosing to score other's posts simply by whether or not they dislike a member. Not the post content.

In otherwords, what's shown wouldn't be actual, because of the instances of abuse in the ratings by others themselves. Say...You dont' like Gary personally, so you choose to give his posts a low rating to reflect your dislike...Or Gary himself rates your posts not on it's contents but his personal feelings about you...

Alot of potential there for abuse from both ends of any issue.

You are right it is not yahoo these moderaters actually take a active role in the board. Sure people could manipulate a ranking system but the mods can ban those that would.

It seems like a bad idea. Those things could act like a stigma, and we don't need more of those on this forum. Anybody who's boxed in can say "Oh yeah? Well how can I trust you? You have so-and-so infractions! You act immature!"

That and people will be forced, with their shame out in the open, to complain and argue with the admins even more to keep those points from adding up. It might give you more of a hassle.

I think you and AP both bring valid points... Perhaps we should do this democratically, with a poll?

And just how would they go about proving that someone was abusing it? I mean honestly? A ratings system is for rating another's posts. And any argument that those abusing it in such a manner, actually would be a justified argument. Cause they can use any reason to rate a post low or high, period. Rating is about opinion and if you don't like a person, that is enough of a reason to do it if one so chooses.

No, it's a bad idea regardless of the site having mods or not. Simply because it would raise more headaches then actually being helpful to the site or to the moderators themselves.
