Well the memory upgrade has made a noticable difference to the server, and it's been stable since the DDoS attack the other day.

I still have not moved the production site across, I still have much deliberating to do.

Right now is just about how things are on a daily basis. What happened the other day was something I have never experienced before with the host, and I've been with them for over a year.

But I would be doing the same thing you are doing now..I think they did a good job recovering from the DDoS attack.

Yes, I absolutely agree...I think they did really well there, and they put a thread about it on the support forum, so I'm pleased so far.

Part of the trouble with my existing host is getting a response out of them. Sometimes they are working on the problem and sometimes they aren't, but they often don't tell you.

My existing server seems quite stable at present but at some point we will have to move.

One thing I will give WireNine, and I have three websites hosted with them, is that they are quick to respond, and you get curteous, quick responses from the customer service representatives. They are surprisingly helpful.

I know what you mean...I was with Ipowerweb and it honestly took 2 or more days to receive a response from tech support. I just couldn't deal with that anymore, so I spent a lot of time researching, as you are. WireNine won my choice and I've been happy ever since.

Unfortunately DoSS attacks are a part of life. Which web hosting company does not have hiccups at some point or another? DoSS attacks do not determine the stability of the server, it could happen to any company or any server at any time.

The question is, would you rather be with a company that is unresponsive during a DoSS attack/any other problem or would you rather have a company working on the issue and keeping customer updated?

If the server went down, who are you going to contact in need of assistance if there is no body around ?

I did not want to start an entirely new thread to ask one little measly question...

So here is the question.

"What is an advantage to adding a member to one's buddy list?"

And while I think of it, how many buddies can one claim to have here?

Thanks to whoever might tell me these things.

You got me on that one..I assume just so you have quick access to PM him/her...or to access their profile. I don't really use the buddy list feature.

I wondered if it was a way to get notified in email every time one of your favs posted to a thread or started a new one?

Just me thinking what use it would have. Maybe I will try it out on someone and see what happens.

I made four of y'all buddies, just to start out with and to test the feature. And one immediate thing I notice is that there are little plus signs following your names in the list of members currently online.

I will let you know what else might show up to make it a feature worth using.
